kitchen floor for white cabinets with princess white counters
Comments (18)We will be starting demolition next week on our kitchen/dining remodel. I have also chosen the Du Chateau White Antique Vernal Collection flooring which will run throughout the kitchen, dining and living areas, about 900 sq ft total. We will have white cabinets with a metallic glaze and either the White Macaubas or Madre Perola quartzite countertop (waiting to see if the Madre Perola opens up at the warehouse). It will be a white modern looking kitchen with lots of windows and glass. I chose the Du Chateau because it has a matte finish (showing less dirt/dust), it has low VOC, the ease of which you can clean stains - just rub oil into it, and the fact that the oil helps it repel water. Everyone was trying to talk me out of it as it is so expensive and it felt like it was an uphill battle at times but I persevered. No one up this far North really has it so it was a huge effort to track down samples. I have quite a reputation at the distributorship. But, I did get my way and the contractor is going to order it any day now. I would love to see pictures of it JAM_SF once you get it installed. I think the flooring will elevate the entire remodel to a casual elegance and will be the highlight of the remodel....See MoreNew white finish or white painted kitchen cabinets
Comments (4)Sure, diymom79. Finish the hearsay... If they slap paint on them without proper preparation. It's a no brainer. You get what you put into them. This topic has also been beaten to death and is actually ongoing (again) in another current thread. I've got both painted and unpainted and neither is better than the other, based upon my usage and the quality of 1) my cabinets and 2) my painted jobs....See MoreWhite Antique kitchen cabinets -- backsplash too white?
Comments (16)I'm with Daisychain - just say no to 3 stones in one kitchen. Alaska White is a beautiful granite. It will be the star. Both of the backsplash tiles you pictured would be wrong. The one on the right because it is busy, and also a dated look. The one on the left cause it would be stone #3 in your kitchen, and because its veining going in different directions with each tile will not go with your granite. I recommend a quiet cream subway backsplash. Not only will go, but also is a classic. Not everything in your kitchen needs to be splashy and statement-y. Keep that in mind with all your choices....See Morebest way to touch up white kitchen cabinets?
Comments (5)The same thing happened to my custom kitchen cabinets. The trash pull was the worst, chipped all over. I had my contractor come back and look at it (2 years later) and he sent his (new) painters in who verified the wrong paint was used. So at his expense he took all the doors and sanded and repainted them (professionally resprayed) with the correct paint. It’s been 6 months and not a scratch to be found, and we’re pretty hard on them. My thoughts are that painting them with a brush is never going to look right, even if you somehow found the exact same paint which is next to impossible because paints and painted surfaces change over time and with use. Painted cabinets by nature are prone to chipping but if they’re done correctly (according to my contractor) it should be minimal....See More- 7 years ago
