all design suggestions welcome for tiny beige bathroom
Comments (15)We have a frameless shower enclosure for a neo-angle shower and I personally wouldn't recommend doing it. The new thin-line European-style framed enclosures are almost as good-looking, half the price, and won't leak. I disagree that your existing tile is 'classic'. I think it's low-end builder grade, and very tired looking. You need to be absolutely sure your tile guy is correct in thinking he can tile over the existing floor. Has he done a deflection test? If not, get thee over to the John Bridge forum where you can find out how to do one. Here's a suggestion you may not have thought of. Call a local bath reglazing vendor with good references, and price out what it would cost to have your wall tile repainted. I'd do them a beautiful, glossy, crisp white, then paint the walls a nice rich medium-dark brown or slate gray. It's usually inexpensive, and will make it a breeze to keep clean because the grout will be forever sealed. Keep the ceiling white (this keeps it from feeling like a cave) and if there isn't any crown molding, get some. A small bath like this needs some nice style touches to give it a more luxurious feel. I agree with replacing the toilet with a glossy white one. But I'd use one of those half-depth vanity cabs with the sink top, for storage and space-saving. I know there are better quality ones than the one I linked to below; this is just to illustrate the style I'm referencing. Here is a link that might be useful: Half-depth vanity with sink top...See MoreHelp with exposed plumbing bathroom sink
Comments (1)They make all sorts of excellent marine hardware for boats and boat building. There are stand off's made from 316L Stainless steel for connecting various size pipe to various shaped walls and decks. A T mount should slide right over and be able to mount to the wall. Most likely you will need a little more pipe. Two tee mounts. Two flat wall fittings and some time....See MoreTiny Powder Room Bathroom Conundrum
Comments (5)Thank you for the suggestions! Saratogaswizzlestick, I've been looking at Totos, but I'll check out the Kohler Veil, and I think a trough sink is a good idea. I'm looking at some wall-mounted corner and regular sinks, and one is kind of farmhouse-style with a trough. Christopher Lynch, I did consider a vanity against the wall on the left side, but the lack of symmetry with our light fixture would bother me. We're going to talk to our contractor this weekend about moving some pipes. It's tricky because there's not much space in the walls to do that maneuvering. Do you know if there is such a thing as a corner toilet with a skirt? All I'm finding are European websites....See MoreBathroom Exposed Waste Pipe
Comments (10)There may have been a good reason for not recessing those pipes, but I would want to know that the contractor opened up the wall behind, and that the "reasons" were valid. Sometimes its just more work, but not really that difficult. With respect to code, pipes need to be protected from damage during normal use. Since this appears to be a floor level area where someone might kick a foot or run a broom, it seems like they could be easily damaged. You could hide them with as little as a tall (6" high?) double depth base molding that is cut out behind to hide the pipes. However, you still need to consider possible damage when they install shoe molding or other finish items. Bruce...See Moreeverton_galepacific
