New Mexico Vinyl Replacement windows
Comments (4)The knowledgeable, friendly and professional Glass-Rite rep came by yesterday to provided me with an estimate. He had a sample of the home grown Glass-Rite vinyl window with him, along with a comprehensive information packet. One of the items I need to replace is a sliding glass door. Glass-Rite does not make doors so they offered a couple of different Jen-Weld doors. The sales rep provided me with an estimate for the eight windows (their own locally manufactured brand of vinyl replacement windows) and the Jen-Weld door. The price was slightly higher than what I received from the other company proposing Milgard Tuscany door and windows. I have to admit, I was slightly surprised by this. Both companies were extremely low key with no pressure to close the deal. I am going to visit the showrooms of both companies to closer inspect and compare the quality of the Milgard Tuscany vs the Glass-Rite home grown. Both companies have excellent BBB ratings and are highly rated on Angie's list. Glass-Rite provided a map of neighborhood with addresses of all the homes in our area where they have installed replacement windows. Both companies have their own crews and both products have essentially the same lifetime warranty. Both companies are licensed contractors and insured and bonded. The Glass-Rite warranty is interesting because it is only 2 paragraphs long. It basically says they will prepare or replace their product for as long as you own the home. I want to thank all of you who moderate or regularly participate in this forum. I have learned a lot from just reading and probably saved myself hours of frustration in this process of making this major purchase. I will post again with any further questions and also post about the final outcome of this purchase...See MoreBamboo in New Mexico
Comments (3)Well i am interested myself to grow in a remote area of my yard as a privacy screen. I don't really have neighbors on that side. It is on a slope about 30 ft from any building. I thought about growing Ocotillo (there were some there before. But they are not real attractive) Any advice would would be great and the type of bamboo. I would like to eventually harvest some to use for projects....See MoreAnyone in New Mexico?
Comments (8)Thanks everyone. I looked this all up too and then sent a text to my neighbor to see if it was across state lines or at the base. She said it was actually 8 weeks ago and they checked before they left and saw that noone was allowed so they didn't go. I guess I didn't get the best details the first time I talked to her. We are staying at my mil house. My sil had to be tested a few days ago so if she is positive, we probably won't be going....See MoreNew Mexico Fire...
Comments (10)I'm safe so far. There was an arrest made for the fire that was set in Los Lunas. My neighborhood is adjacent to the bosque, about 25 miles north of the Los Lunas fire, so I hope the arrest dissuades copycats from trying similar in my area. The winds have indeed been something else over the last few weeks. I walk my dogs through the bosque most every day and the fire alert sign has been set to "HIGH!" for several weeks. There wasn't a lot of precipitation this winter, so things are very dry. Such is spring in the high desert. @LynnNM, I'm glad the fire near you was extinguished quickly. Fingers crossed that you're saved from a repeat episode. @Annie Deighnaugh please come ASAP and bring lots of rain -- I'll fix up the guest room for you!...See MoreDain (Zone 5a, high NM Desert)
