Crazy weather...
Comments (6)16° when I left for work yesterday. 20° today. On the news this morning: " If you thought the worst of winter was over, you were wrong. The National Weather Service is calling for up to 8 inches of snow by Monday night in the Spokane area and even more in the mountains and the northern areas of Eastern Washington and North Idaho. Winter weather advisories have been issued for the region until 3 p.m. Monday. The snow is expected to begin overnight into Sunday, with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches Sunday and another 2 to 4 inches on Monday. There may be a brief lull in the snowfall Sunday evening. The mountains could see a total of 6 to 11 inches this weekend. The heaviest snowfall is expected in the Washington Palouse and North Idaho, which includes Moscow, Pullman, Kellogg, Tekoa, Oakesdale and Wallace. The forecast calls for 6 to 14 inches of new snow through Tuesday evening. The winter weather advisory in those areas doesn’t expire until 10 p.m. Tuesday." Been a long winter for us, so far, and looks like we're not done yet. The older I get, the longer winter seems to last, and the colder it seems. BRRRR...See MoreOur crazy weather
Comments (5)We've had the coldest April since records started being kept, since 1915. Our overall average was 2°C (36F). Today is going to make up for it. It's going to feel like 27C with humidity (80F). I'm not impressed, I don't like the heat coming in so severely. Thankfully it won't last....See MoreThe crazy weather -- what is going on?
Comments (1)What makes it more difficult is that the freezes usually come after a week or more of 80F+ days so the plants are in active growth. At least if the plants have adjusted to a chill they are less susceptible to injury. After a relatively mild winter, it looks like summer will be blazing hot....See Morecrazy weather here
Comments (20)I’m not too far from cyn427 in suburban MD. We haven’t had any significant rain. Last year b/w mid-August and mid-October, we had 10” of rain. The same period this year in the DC area had .04”. I think that .04” bypassed us! I planted a number of shrubs/hydrangeas in the spring and have been doing my best trying to keep them watered and alive. The Farmers Almanac is predicting unseasonably cold winter with higher than normal precipitation for us. We shall see if that’s correct!...See Morekatlan
