Found my 'Dream Plant'' yesterday!
Comments (8)It had a Klehm's tag in it, and I see they are $36 on their site and $22 to ship one plant (3 day delivery). The place where I got it was Winton's Iris Hill. They have over 1000 irises, and over 1500 Daylilies, and over 400 Hostas. The daylilies were probably at their peak here, but I wasn't that interested. Doris, (owner/operator) drove me around a bit on the property for a quick view as we were going from point A to point B. My other great finds there were Double Delight (pink) Coneflower-$6-Gorgeous! 'Conca d' Or' Oriental Lily-$3 Golden Stargazer Lily $3 Montezuma Lily $3 Honeycomb (yellow) Butterfly Bush $5 Dianthus Ruby's Tuesday $4 Lilac Evangeline $5 I just couldn't get interested in the daylilies when there were so many other cool perennials to be had at great prices, that one could only find on line otherwise. There were other things I needed, but will be going back sometime fairly soon. I'm getting her some Corn Gluten Meal and 4 bags of Milorganite. She has an hours drive for the Milorganite and there is no place that she knows of in her neck of the woods to get the Corn Meal. She says she uses the Milorganite on everything she pots up, as it fertilizes, but never burns. I'm getting 2 bags for myself while I'm getting it. I've been perusing her Iris price list, and will be ordering several. I've checked her prices, and hers are usually 1/2 or less than the prices listed for the on line vendors....plus I will save shipping by picking them up. I'm concentrating on getting a number of rebloomers. She only lists them as rebloomers, if they reliable rebloom for her, which makes it nice. Hey, count me among the cheap ones too. I like to stretch my plant buying dollars. Blueberry Breakfast is pretty, and that is a good deal that you get a clump of them on the spot....See Morefound my dream home--best way to finance?
Comments (9)Talk to a good mortgage broker. All of this really depends on your total income (including the rental) versus total debt ratio and what that looks like. We recently purchased a rental property with the down payment coming from the HELOC on another rental property. No problems what so ever. Our rentals show good income. Everything is based on your taxable income, ie 1040. After all is said and done, this new rental makes money after paying both mortgages and all expenses with zero cash down from our savings. One problem is that you are not allowed to move money from the rental to the primary residence easily. You need to talk to your tax folks regarding that. The money should be kept relatively separately for tax purposes....See MoreI just lost my dream house
Comments (48)I drove through a different area yesterday, for Nick's football game, near where my sister lives and where I used to live. I am not kidding, I probably could have counted a hundred for sale signs. Maybe even more. And that is the supposedly desirable area. This is the boonies. That's the problem - this area wasn't built up during the housing boom so there isn't excess inventory. What is on the market in my range are the unsellables - one bad location (next to the biggest 24 hour gas station in town, at the busiest intersection), one has a cesspool, one is a peeling Victorian (I don't want to deal with old peeling possibly lead paint with two young children). This is the type of area where people don't move in and out of very often, they just move around and no one is moving around since there is no place to move to. There really isn't a neighboring town south (there's a big mountain) and I don't really want to go any further north but even if I did - those towns have even less to offer....See MoreI think I found my dream kitchen inspiration
Comments (18)It is very pretty But they had totally different space to work with. They went with minimum uppers and lots of open shelving. They have tons of light coming in. Different textures. Contrasts. Lots of white. Metallics. Architectural details, bigger space, what not. Just their hood would take precious space in your kitchen. Looks huge.. They deal with different size room there, and they have other things going on making it much easier What I do wholeheartedly agree with-black would look smashing with your floors(also most blues, and certain grays. Whites, I can envision less, at least not whites-whites) If you're ready, or can afford, to loose much of your upper storage, then you'll be closer to your inspiration. The more light you can get in the better. Etcetera. Your kitchen is not gross by the way, it's just normal. While theirs is like, wow, what a space. But they had that space. Or opportunity to build it. I like your dining room. I'd take whatever elements make sense in your kitchen, and if it's black, let it be black, but it will demand all these things going on-expances of more open spaces, lots of light materials next to it, all the shebang but on much smaller scale. In any case it's exciting. I had two inspiration pics myself..I mean the ones that really got to me because I collected tons of very different images. My kitchen looks like neither of them lol, but I did a steal a color(an idea of color) from one of them because I was smitten. I looked at it constantly like I was drinking that color. Couldn't get enough of it. I was smitten with the other too but it wouldn't work in my space. I still think about it of course. Very warm, bold, careless, rustic feel.....See MoreYayagal
