I think my dreams were prophetic!
Comments (6)I found a beautiful gold dress at Dillards in Daytona Beach when I went to visit my mom the month before son's wedding. I was a bit worried that the floor length satin skirt and the lace jacket were too much (for me!) but DH said it was so beautiful. Then, just a couple of weeks before the wedding, I started having real second thoughts. I just couldn't see myself in a floor length evening gown for his evening wedding. So I ran around like a crazy looking for separates. Finally found a black & cream lace and velvet jacket (more like a blouse) at Talbot's and tried it with my ankle length black velvet skirt. It was perfect. And I might mention that a huge part of my problem with the gold was the shoe issue. My plantar faciitis was so bad 2 years ago that I could barely stumble without orthotic shoes. And while I found an adorable pair of black (kumfs) shoes with a small heal for the 2nd outfit, no amount of searching brought me anything in gold or beige gold or anything that worked with the other dress. Frustrating? Yes. Was I happier with the black & cream? Yes. Did it matter after all? No. Red...See MoreI think that I've found my granite!
Comments (38)I must admit, this is a fabulous looking granite! I'm so very pleased with it. Circuspeanut, I remember seeing your lovely decorative countertop kitty! Buddyrose, I always enjoy seeing your Crema Bordeaux - looks great with cream cabinets - and look forward, too, to seeing your blue granite. So the countertops are even more beautiful installed, and I've opted for another piece to be installed (tomorrow, hopefully) vertically behind the range. Here's what it looks like now:...See MoreI think I found my sink!
Comments (11)I really want the Ascend or the Smart Divide. I'm totally confused. I pulled out the paperwork from the granite installer and it says not to provide any sink that is more than 18" deep (is deep the right word?) Because standard counter depth is 26" and they need 4" in front and without saying that would also leave 4" in back. However, a lot of pictures I see posted in general look like there is much less than 4" in the back. The granite place had 4 sinks in their showroom (all stainless models) of which I could have one free. Naturally, I dont want theirs!!! I went back and looked at the images of theirs that I saved on my computer and darn if they didn't have plenty of granite in front and back. Those showroom sinks must be smaller than normal! I think I'll have to wait until Monday to call and tell them that I am really set on this sink. The second problem is finding it in stock. All the ones I see on eBay are self rimming at this time and the one undermount is in a brown color that I don't like. Funny thing is, the e-bay undermount gave two dimension...interior and exterior and the interior was 18 3/4". If you were me would you be willing to sign something holding the fabricator/installer not liable for a crack if I wanted to go with the 32X21 Ascend? Any idea why the undermount on eBay had interior and exterior dimensions?...See MoreI think I found my rug -- please vote
Comments (39)Since y'all are being so helpful, I took 2 more pix that better show the color of the wall: These are a little darker than in real life, and in real life the color is more gray. I went through 9 different colors trying to find the right shade of blue-gray to highlight the blue-gray granite with cobalt streaks in the adjacent kitchen, so repainting is not going to happen. Right now I'm leaning toward a dark denim sofa by Pottery Barn. As before, I regard denim as a neutral, and I think it would stand up better than off-white. Again, thank you for all your help!!!...See Morealways1stepbehind
