Miele for less $$ than Electrolux or Samsung?
Comments (13)mihai914, Miele just started a promo for May (in Canada) for a free 10 year warranty on any appliance purchased. I'm considering a new dishwasher .... :) My machines are installed in my basement laundry room which has tile over concrete. I find them quite quiet but my install makes a big difference. I have a friend who has them installed in a second floor laundry and they are slightly noisier. They are custom home builders though and they reinforce the floors knowing Miele's are going in there. I don't find them bad. LG/Samsung WILL be quieter. While Miele has gotten much better with their newer suspension system it still isn't the same as the VRT in Samsung or TrueBalance Anti-Vibration System in LG. Like me, you should do a pro/con list and decide what is most important to you. I had narrowed it down to the LG WM3885 vs Miele. The LG was larger with more features like steam in the washer and dryer. I really did like the LG - I loved its lights and "whistles". In the end, I went with Miele - giving up larger capacity and whistles for, what I hope, will be a superior wash and durability. So far I'm very pleased - leaps ahead of my last machines. Of course I can't say how happy I would have been with the LG as I've never owned one. My parents have new entry level LGs and they are very happy with them. When they saw my Mieles for the first time, my mother commented how "solid" they looked. She said they looked like quality appliances (FWIW). My sales guy has been to Germany to see Miele manufacturing first hand and he told me, "no one builds them like Miele". He said if they had a Miele machine opened up in the store and a competitors - people would be able to see what they are paying for (it's all under the hood as he called it). The components are superior to what the others are using (ie. cast iron cradle vs. concrete)....See MoreSpeed Queen FL vs Maytag Bravo vs Electrolux
Comments (17)I did a lot of research on Speed Queen before I bought Maytag Bravos, including reading reviews SQ owners had posted at various websites. Lsck of capacity was not the only reason I felt SQ would not meet my needs. Lack of spin speed was another, and at least one reviewer complained about plastic parts. IMO, SQ is also over-priced. A previous poster is very mistaken in his/her comment about HE toploaders, particularly concerning Maytag Bravos. Laundry DOES move while it washes, and our comforters (including a king-size comforter) come out very clean and fresh after being washed. If one hasn't actually owned and used an HE toploader, s/he can't give an experienced review. Also -- all HE toploaders are not equal, another thing non-owners may not realize. Friends and relatives who have Oasis, Cabrio, and GE's HE toploader have reported problems I have not had with my Bravos washer. Comments (17)You're both so welcome! Susan...I'm a research fiend and tend to over analyze every single product that we put into our home (we just finished building our own house). I call it being persnickety...DH calls it anal. LOL Hosta...I'm a major bargain hunter. :o) I picked out the washer & dryer that I wanted and then started searching for better deals. I actually purchased the pair on eBay for $1100 which included shipping (no tax either!). They were dealer overstock. Everything was brand new in the unopened manufacturer's shipping crates/boxes and was delivered on pallets. I also got the pedestals that go with them from another seller in Canada for $55 each. I did have to pay about $70 to have them delivered, but the cost still came out to less than half of what I would have spent at Lowe's. :o)...See Morewhat happened to the COMPACT but larger capacity washers FL washers?
Comments (1)You are correct. I was told that the mftrs had in their calculations that a load consisted of so many pairs of pants or shirts, etc. Then people got bigger. In order to accomodate the same number of items-from bigger consumers, the size of the machine was increased from 3+ ft to 4+ft. I am not sure that I believe that explanation, but there are very few regular size washers (3+ft) left and I am not aware of any in the compact range. I really like the electrolux it's 2.4ft....See More- 7 years ago
