Comments (13)I think we should re-examine if Canadians pay more tax in order to get health insurance. It sounds like you guys are paying way more than we are one way or another. We have 10 acres, a four bedroom house with separate garage with it's own living quarters, etc. etc. and our taxes are $3000 a year at the most. It sounds like you guys could use a touch of that socialism that is being used to scare people into voting for McCain. I do have to admit that an 8 year old car sounds downright new to me. I drive a 17 year old Jeep and it's the newest, most luxurious car I've ever had! I send a hug to your cat. I have two that are 17 and keep hoping they'll stay healthy. Beth seemed not to be interested in eating much this summer and is as light as a feather (she always has been). I talked to the vet who suggested getting her tested for failing kidneys or diabitis. The treatment was different for each (one was low protien diet). The cost would be $250 for the test then whatever for the medication. I was going to do it but then she seemed back to her old self. She's eating well, seems to have put on a little weight. I started giving her and Mandy (her cousin also 17) a small spoonful of mayonaise every couple days. This is something my mom always did for a cat with fur balls. Maybe that's what helped? Mandy, meanwhile has become obcessed with her spoonful of mayo and stands and stares at me until she gets it. Comments (1)Hi, Canvassing was done to provide an exquisitely textured surface for painting. Any skim-coating probably came later. Canvas lining is almost completely a thing of the past. Occasionally a liner paper is done today to bridge hairline cracks in old plaster so that hand-painted wallpapers do not get damaged, and can be removed for reinstallation elsewhere. Canvas as an original underlayment usually indicates first-class workmanship throughout the house. If it has been skim-coated, it probably has other problems and will fail in time. The canvas can be ripped down, the ceiling scraped and painted as normal plasterwork. Of course, once it's torn down, you may discover that it was put up to remedy underlying problems. Comments (36)I'm sorry about your situation. It's terrible. I see money as being a huge issue here. The woman has been charged with two counts of theft. You need more information on this. I would call the county attorney offices in both counties and find out what you can. What was she accused of and was she convicted? Was it theft by deception? All you have to do is tell them you are a taxpayer and you want whatever information they can provide. You do not need to give them your name. Your Dad could end up penniless before she is done with him. Thieves don't stick around once they've gotten everything they can get - they split. Then your Dad will call upon you to straighten out the financial mess because he will be too distraught to deal with it. My grandfather became the victim of a thief who came into his life soon after my grandmother died. We did not know the person was a convicted thief but we knew something was up. Soon my grandfather became alienated from us and we didn't even feel welcome when we went to his house to visit. He acted weird and the thief was always there and didn't want us to feel comfortable because we weren't supposed to know what was going on. Hindsight is 20/20. He called one day in tears saying "everything is gone, my house is gone, my money is gone" and we went over and the thief had also split. Then it all made sense. Sadly, my grandfather never recovered from this, emotionally or financially and he wouldn't even let us prosecute. He was ashamed. A prenuptual is only going to protect him when the divorce happens. It doesn't protect him while he is married and she can go through his assets while they are married, if he lets her. After going through the situation with my grandfather, if it was my Dad in your Dad's situation, I would be quite vocal and would not candy coat at all how I felt about what he is walking into. He's going to be mad, and probably even furious, but I think you can see that the alientation has already begun, and his bride-to-be is behind this.
