Need some help in staging... Pics included
Comments (23)Regarding the foyer ,,, what is going on at the base of the staircase (by the pony wall)? It almost looks like a bar/sink or counter? I'm also assuming that's a coat closet under the stairs? My first thought was a round entry table with flowers (I love that look), then entering the house you go right of the table to go up the steps or to an "entry area" at the base of the steps with a bench. And I also see a reading nook on the other side of the foyer. If a round table doesn't work ,,, another option might be a long console table on the backside of the reading nook to help lead people into the house. A few more photos of that area would be helpful (including a shot or two taken coming down the steps). I would also treat the window in the stairwell, so the windows on each side of the front door are "in balance". I feel like the house is suffering from identity crisis. The "arts and crafts" style cabinets in the kitchen, the "tropical" ceiling fans, the "contemporary" arch/pendants over the bar, the "shabby chic" drapes and "hollywood glam" cocktail table in the tv area, etc, etc, etc and then there's that fireplace mantel. For staging purposes, I would try to clean that up. Some stuff you are stuck with ,,, for example, the curved arch over the bar with that funky archway to the right of the fireplace (created by the stairwell) and then the square archway to the left of the fireplace. Maybe it doesn't look that bad in person, but to me those lines look "off", so I would try to minimize them. This is where I think the paint color and the monochromatic color scheme actually help out. How nice of you to help out your friend ,,, looks like a fun challenge!!...See MoreCan you help me stage my formal living room?
Comments (15)-I would get rid of the tv, stand, and the other kids stuff. -Rearrange your furniture so it is more inviting. I think at least one peice of seating needs to be at angle in the room. I'm not sure how this would look, but you might even pull the the couch over to the side so it is under the stairs. The chair might look better if it were angled into the corner where you are walking into the dining room. I think furniture looks better in groups of three. Do you have another chair or loveseat, you could put in the room? A small table by the chair might look nice. I'd move stuff around in the room until it looks right. It might not be the most comfortable for living, but sometimes you have to do what you need to do to get it sold.-I think you need more height in the room to add interest. -I would put the dried twig arrangement on a plant stand and maybe adding s few pieces with color into the arrangement. -I like your fern, but I think it needs to be moved so it is in the line of sight where you first glance into the room. I might add a couple of other nice size plants with a little bit of height into the room too. -I don't think your picture has enough presence on the wall. You need something bigger and with color. -I think you need some colorful accents like pillows. -I like your curtains. I think they add appeal to the room....See MoreWant to help stage a bunk room/sitting area for a beach house?
Comments (15)I have many friends who have large families that all share a summer/weekend house. They have found that old dorm/camp cabin sleeping (single beds lined up in a row), is far better than built-in bunks. First of all, bunks are the devil to make-up and change sheets. They can also be hot. One friend used old curtains around each bed - like in a hospital - if one sleeper wanted privacy to change for bed. All children over a certain age slept in this room until they were grown. She grouped children by age, so when older ones came to bed, they would not disturb the younger ones. They also had a big "common room" with a TV, but it was really only for rainy days - everyone was expected to be outside doing something in nice weather. One has an actual barn set up this way, and her adult children take turns sleeping in a bedroom in the barn for safety....See MoreI need help staging my living room...
Comments (17)Hi Kristina, We had a similar problem re. the front door causing a problem with wall space and floor space. Instead of PUSHING the front door open into the house like you currently have, we reversed it. To open our front door you PULL it open towards the outside of the house. It frees up that wall, space and was an inexpensive carpentry job. Not one person has commented on the fact that it opens "out". If you want a photo, let me know and I can take one in the day light. I highly recommend the door reversal!...See Moremaddielee
