Susie - thank you! The doors are part of our new foyer/garage addition, and with the sidelights and transom it's a 10' x 10' entry. We stained them ourselves which was quite a job, and unfortunately the afternoon sun hits them pretty hard so we'll probably be spending a lot of time maintaining them, but I really like them. On a good night, you can see the moon through the transom. Allison, thank you so much. I was thinking it would be about 1 yard for each chair. Surprisingly, there were none listed on ebay. Guess I was hoping some people would want to make custom slips and sell the ones that came with the chairs, but it doesn't appear so. I love what I've seen of your style, and really admire how your casual and more formal furniture pieces work so well together. That's something I need to work on, since I like both. I can't wait to post pictures of other rooms soon and get advice for furniture placement and paint colors. Right now, almost all of the rooms have tools, drywall and flooring piled up in them, since we're just entering the finishing stage of the whole house remodel. I'm so looking forward to having my house back to normal and get to the fun stuff! I think I'll keep an eye on the Highgate table over the next week or so. It has such nice thick legs, and would make a nice coffee table. That will probably be my next post!

To tell you the honest truth, the two colors look alike on my screen and I don't like either one. Both are too mauve-y for me. (Caveat - I don't like mauve; I've never liked mauve; I avoided mauve the last time it came around. So, my opinion may not be a good one for you.) What about a nice cream? Several houses ago, I painted my bedroom Pratt and Lambert Antique White. Then I had the ceiling painted the palest tint of blue. I loved that room. My best resource for choosing colors is the guy at the paint store and when I lived in another town, there was a woman at a paint store there who was super. I take a fabric swatch, describe what I want, and he figures out which color will get me there*. He helped me pick out colors for our 2nd home when we were 500 miles apart and I was pleased with those colors until the day I moved.

You have some very pretty things, and I do think the color of the doorknob hanger works well in the mix, so good that you didn't paint it. Two thoughts as I look at the mix. First, the bistro one would seem better suited to a kitchen or dining area rather than an office. Second, I think you need to add in more things that don't have words. Plates, photos or small paintings/prints, etc. It will be a charming grouping when it is all done! As for hooks, I would try a place that sells decorative items, like Hobby Lobby or Michael. If the smaller plaques aren't too heavy, you could also use pretty pushpins to hang them - you can find those in all kinds of designs and finishes. One other solution to the wire issue is to tie on a pretty ribbon or some raffia (perhaps in the accent color of the room, or a print that contains it) and that will hide the nail. You could also clip off the wires and attach a hanger to the back.

Have you painted your DD's room yet? If not, is there any possibility you could just switch rooms so that you only have to paint one of them? We went through this EXACT scenario when we moved into our current home - we painted pink over Incredible Hulk green and neutralized a peachy/pink guest BR. I can't tell you how many times DH and I have looked back and said "what were we thinking?!" We should have just painted one room and let DD enjoy the peachy/pink. Oh well.
