Those chairs are perfect with the table. I thought the photo of the chairs was taken in the store! That is a great old cabinet behind them, and the doors and windows are great too!

What great finds-- each purchase is wonderful! And how cool is it that you found each at a price you were happy with? I love the bin cabinet.

Cooper - they had the chairs around a rustic pine table and the different woods seemed to work, so I'm hoping they do look good with the new table. They're quite different than the painted cross-back chairs I was about to order, but very pretty yet rustic, similar to the trestle table.

I had looked at those chairs when the SC web site was still up-- I loved that they were rustic and feminine. I can't imagine that they would do anything but rock your new table.

What finish did you go with on the table?

What was the original purpose of the cabinet? Was it a grain cabinet? I just love it-- rustic as it is or painted as you intend.

I know you didn't get those at the SF store - DD1 said they've been out of chairs for at least a month and her store is at 60% (since Wednesday).

DD1 knows someone who bought a LOT of SC fabric bolts at Bellflower. If you want the same fabric, maybe she would sell you some (if she bought a bolt of that particular one). The lady lives in the L.A. area.

I went with a medium brown waxed finish on my table, which should look almost exactly like the RH reclaimed trestle table except it will be 8' extending to 11'. I think the bin was probably used for potatoes or grain. It has three different compartments inside, and I thought I'd use it in the foyer to corral my daughter's toys and backpack. I'll have dh install some plate rails across the shelves so I can also safely display some pretty plates.

The chairs are from the Newport Beach store and most of the store is at 50% off. They still had a good selection of fabrics and bedding and some great pieces of furniture.

Not much upholstered furniture left, other than a few ottomans and a denim headboard, but they had some great farm tables, hutches, cabinets, occasional tables, and a gorgeous canopy iron bed (I wanted it even though I have no place for it). There was a great 10 foot pine farm table (not turned leg) for $1900, I believe, and a smaller 6 foot version of the same table. Lots of pillow inserts also and a few lamps. It was hard to resist all the pretty things.

lol - I just realized I said "great" many, many times in my last post. I'm tired, and that's not a good sign when you just wake up!

Also, I meant to say the entire store is "at least" 50% off. There were some items marked up to 80% off.

Allison - Thank you! I would definitely like to purchase some of the fabric if she has the same kind. The fabric on these slips is "oyster linen" I believe. They had a lot of 16 slips cut up and ready to be sewn, but it was $300 and I only need 4.

If I can't find matching slips (and so far, my internet searching has been unsuccessful) I think I'll try to match the fabric as close as possible and just use those four on the other side of the table close to the wall.

I'll call DD1 now....BRB.

I sent you an email. She said that is the Huntly chair (I love the Huntley DR table - she sold 3 or 4 of them yesterday). They have one slip at her store, but she's not sure if it's for the Huntley or Darcy chair.

They are not answering the phone at work any longer and only check messages now and then - just too busy.

btw, she said that your fabric is the Oyster Linen. She does not know how many yards it would take to make one slip, but she should be able to look it up at work. You also have the straight skirt. (It also comes in ruffled.)

She does not know if lady bought the Oyster Linen (she never made it to her house to see fabrics) or if she did, that she has some she would want to sell. She went to LA for three nights last weekend. Visited everyone at the Santa Monica and Malibu stores one last time. :( We are so sad. It was her "dream job."

Ebay seems to have a lot of SC things listed, but I haven't seen any slips for the DR chairs.

I'm sorry for your daughter and I can see why it was a dream job. All of the employees really seem knowledgeable about the product and so enthusiastic. I hope Rachel Ashwell comes back with a new line, even if it's just internet sales and a few select boutiques.

Typo/in a hurry above; I love the Highgate table. There is not a Huntley table.

...meant to tell you; They swear by Oxyclean. Some stores have/had washer/dryers and that's what they use.

Allison - thanks for the tip on the Oxyclean. I was a bit worried about keeping these clean, since I've only had wood or rush seat chairs before.

The Highgate table is so pretty! There were several left in the store that had the legs and apron painted a sagey green. If there weren't so many, I would have sworn it was a true antique farm table, and they were such a good price that I briefly considered buying one to shorten the legs and use it as a coffee table (and using the legs to make a long bench next to the table for my daughter), but my dh wants more of a square table. Hmmm, now I'm reconsidering anyway!

The 10 ft and 6 ft pine table they had in the store were unpainted and looked more like a work table style, or similar to the RH Gun Barrel table.

Your new chairs will look great with your new table. If my island was not painted, I would get the Highgate table and give my current one to DD2 next time she moves. :D I had a new "old" top (made from old wood) recently, so I am happy with it.

DD1 said the chair slip they had at work was not for the Huntley chairs. She has emailed lady with yardage to see if she's had any and is interested in selling you some. DD1 has no idea what lady would want per yard.

The store manager estimated 1 yard per chair. It is not in their slip manual. Guess no one ever ordered new ones?

The Highgate would make a great coffee table. DD1 had an old DR table cut down to a coffee table before (from SC). She sold it and a small sofa to a friend of hers earlier this year. She was ready to update a bit after 5 years.

Would love to see more of your home (either here on through email). Looks like we share the same taste.

Susie - thank you! The doors are part of our new foyer/garage addition, and with the sidelights and transom it's a 10' x 10' entry. We stained them ourselves which was quite a job, and unfortunately the afternoon sun hits them pretty hard so we'll probably be spending a lot of time maintaining them, but I really like them. On a good night, you can see the moon through the transom.

Allison, thank you so much. I was thinking it would be about 1 yard for each chair. Surprisingly, there were none listed on ebay. Guess I was hoping some people would want to make custom slips and sell the ones that came with the chairs, but it doesn't appear so.

I love what I've seen of your style, and really admire how your casual and more formal furniture pieces work so well together. That's something I need to work on, since I like both. I can't wait to post pictures of other rooms soon and get advice for furniture placement and paint colors. Right now, almost all of the rooms have tools, drywall and flooring piled up in them, since we're just entering the finishing stage of the whole house remodel. I'm so looking forward to having my house back to normal and get to the fun stuff!

I think I'll keep an eye on the Highgate table over the next week or so. It has such nice thick legs, and would make a nice coffee table. That will probably be my next post!

I emailed you the lady's name/number/email who bought the yardage. Don't know if she's giving bargains or not. lol
