You have some very pretty things, and I do think the color of the doorknob hanger works well in the mix, so good that you didn't paint it.

Two thoughts as I look at the mix. First, the bistro one would seem better suited to a kitchen or dining area rather than an office.

Second, I think you need to add in more things that don't have words. Plates, photos or small paintings/prints, etc.

It will be a charming grouping when it is all done!

As for hooks, I would try a place that sells decorative items, like Hobby Lobby or Michael. If the smaller plaques aren't too heavy, you could also use pretty pushpins to hang them - you can find those in all kinds of designs and finishes.

One other solution to the wire issue is to tie on a pretty ribbon or some raffia (perhaps in the accent color of the room, or a print that contains it) and that will hide the nail.

You could also clip off the wires and attach a hanger to the back.

msrose -- I don't know the story of your office but I can tell from your photo it's going to be a pretty space! I'm esp. interested in your lighting -- will you going for a tole chandelier? (I'm biased: love tole.)

Okay: hooks! Elizabeth's Embellishments has a great selection of "shabby chic" style hooks. Because I'm a tole sucker I've collected a bunch from both eBay & etsy -- I like 'em nice & chippy! I have some flowers but for whatever reason I esp. like fruit, and have cherry and lemon hooks.

Les - I agree that I need more things without words, but I haven't found anything that works yet. The funny thing is, I've never been that crazy about things with words on it, but this is my home office where I spend at least eight hours a day doing a job that can get a little stressfull at times, so I thought it would be nice to have a room that makes me feel good. I do have a huge mirror hanging above my desk, but I forgot to take a picture of that. I drove right past Hobby Lobby today and thought about stopping, but didn't. Now I wish I would have.

rmkitchen - I would love to have a chandelier in my office, but unfortunately I live in Texas and my office is one of the hotter rooms in the house, so I'm stuck with a ceiling fan in there. I'll check out that site. Thanks!

Pat Catans is a good place to look, and their stuff is very reasonably priced. Just look the pieces over real good for any imperfections that don't appear on purpose.

You could try just using a small finishing nail and painting it the same color as the wall and maybe it would just disappear?

I'd do as sashasmommy suggests and paint a small nail the wall color. I think if you try to use a decorative hook, the piece might not hang flush and you run the risk of detracting from the piece itself with "over-embellishment", if that makes sense! Your office is going to be adorable and I hope you'll post pics once it all comes together. Have you looked on Etsy.com for other pieces? Just for fun, search there under "shabby, French, office".
