How durable is epoxy as a countertop finish?

OK, this is really not a woodworking question per se. But I know there are some smart cookies here that will advise me on using epoxy (or not) as a finish for countertops. Will it scuff or get hazy? Discolor? We are fabricating our own copper countertops and applying a chemical patina treatment and I'm concerned the Behlen laquer I've ordered may not be durable enough over time, especially given the textured surface of copper after the application of a patina. Also, is one brand of epoxy preferable over another? (The Houzz metalwork forum has no activity of note so I'm trying you guys here in woodworking). I await your sound advice...!
