installing drawer fronts and hardware

last month

I'm about to install slab full overlay drawer fronts in our kitchen. There are a few cabinets, but mostly drawers. I was gifted a nice hardware installation jig so it should be pretty quick and easy, but nearly every stack is a different width so there will be lots of measuring and adjusting.

Would you

1) install drawer fronts, then drill hardware holes?

2) drill hardware holes, install fronts, then drill through boxes?

Also, what screws do you suggest for installing front? Even though mine have usually been raised head screws, I want to countersink them.

Any other tips or advice is welcome...shims, clamps...
