Cute office chair?
Comments (10)I just spent two weeks shopping all over town and the internet including craigslist for an office chair that was both comfortable enough and that I didn't hate. I did consider a Parsons chair. At a local regular furniture store I found and almost bought what they called a "game chair," which was basically somewhere between a regular chair and an office chair, with lumbar support and normal straight-down legs but with casters on them. But it didn't go with the rest of my stuff. Then I found the perfect store for me, a huge old decrepit barnlike place that's been here for about 40 years and has hundreds of both new and used chairs, and ended up with a comfortable used office chair that I'm happy with: wooden arms, only one adjustment, and it's purple. (Don't worry, the rug in my office has purple in it.) So my advice is to keep looking and you will know when you find the perfect solution. Remember the good old days before ergonomics when any old chair would do? You'd get a new job and use whatever chair you found next to your desk, and sit there for 8 hours without complaining? Those days are gone, baby!...See MoreNeed help finding a quality reclining home office chair
Comments (2)For quality leather desk seating check out Leathercraft or Mckinley Leather. Both of these companies manufacture in North Carolina and are considered high end. They both have plenty of colors of full grain leathers to choose from and a 5 prong base is standard on all their leather desk chairs. Seat cushion options include spring, down and firm. Most all of their chairs are available with a gas lift option for easy up and down and also a tension adjustment for when pushing back. Either of these companies should price below or well within your budget depending on where you shop. I have a pillow back full grain leather executive chair made by Mckinley leather that has a double pillow back and a spring loft seat cushion. I also keep a small leather stool or ottoman the same height as the seat cushion under my desk that I keep my feet on for most of the day. I usually am in my office from 7 until 7 each day so comfort and durability were huge concerns of mine and this chair is by far the most comfortable desk chair I have ever had....See MoreHome office help needed
Comments (46)After seeing your photos, and going back to your original question, I think you can make a nice usable space in your area near the kitchen. You've got things set up nicely in the living room and dining area, and I don't see a reason to change all that. You can turn the desk so you are looking out the window, and use your bookcases to the right of the desk, placed perpendicular to the desk and parallel to the island, to partition the office area from the kitchen and walkway without sacrificing any light. You then have room for a rug with two armchairs and a small side table behind the desk area by the stairs. You can just turn the desk chair around to converse with the other chairs when desired. It gives you a light open place to work during the day....See MoreHELP NEEDED with Home Office redo!
Comments (37)Tall bookcases on either side of console. If desk is facing widow then option for your large reading chair to be in front of bookcase angled toward desk (view out window if you glance left). If there is space, low file cabinet could be on other side of window in entry corner. I have BM Abington Putty on 3 walls with BM Providence Olive on accent bookcase wall. I lightened the room by painting bookcases BM Shaker Beige - a color I pulled from my rug. I share colors only to inspire possibility of not painting all 4 walls yet if you are done with Abington Putty you are done with it. Space for large art over console. Lots of fun and inspiring ideas posted by others!...See Morelynnerly
