Comments (17)Love, love, love your room - I have always loved black, white and yellow - may even make me work on mine. If you don't want all the stuff showing on the bookcase - check Craigslist. Because so many people are switching to flat screens, the craigslist here is loaded with cheap armoires or closed tv cabinets. Re: the decision on black or white, I always throw a towel, piece of construction paper, or even an item of clothing on each side to help me get an idea which color I like best. This is my "poor womans photoshop". Again, though, great room....See MoreHome office help needed
Comments (46)After seeing your photos, and going back to your original question, I think you can make a nice usable space in your area near the kitchen. You've got things set up nicely in the living room and dining area, and I don't see a reason to change all that. You can turn the desk so you are looking out the window, and use your bookcases to the right of the desk, placed perpendicular to the desk and parallel to the island, to partition the office area from the kitchen and walkway without sacrificing any light. You then have room for a rug with two armchairs and a small side table behind the desk area by the stairs. You can just turn the desk chair around to converse with the other chairs when desired. It gives you a light open place to work during the day....See MoreJust moved in, Please help. LAYOUT needed for a HOME OFFICE with TV.

Comments (6)We had a similar office in a prior home and we outfitted it with a large credenza/hutch on the top wall, a lateral file cabinet in the bottom right corner, and the desk perpendicular to the left wall. My husband preferred to sit on the bottom side of the desk facing the credenza, but facing the window is also an option…would just need to move the desk further down the wall to have more space between the desk/credenza. The second option gives easier access to credenza, if that’s a priority. Bottom line is…there is plenty of room to set up a generous office with lots of storage....See MoreJ Humphreys
