I used Bostik Dimension diamond urethane grout which I’d used before with little issue, but I apparently waited too long to wipe AND since I had varying tile thicknesses this time -- I had the clever and time-consuming idea of combining 3 different styles/brands of tile sheets -- there was more residue to clean off. My glass -- regular, polished and frosted -- and stainless/polished steel mosaic tile looked horrid. Sadly, I used the manufacturer’s suggestion of Windex and that made the area’s grout I tested just a tiny shade of bluish white instead of brilliant white - only noticeable to me but still annoying. A half-vinegar/half-water concoction worked with the bulk of the thinner residue and I finished off the thicker bits with a razor blade/glass scraper (only on the glass); the glass scraper was necessary for the frosted glass tiles but I will go over it again with a pumice stone or magic eraser as was suggested elsewhere for matte tile. The brushed stainless tiles are giving me a hard time and the polished metal tiles did get scratched by the grout/ocelo no-scratch scrub and wipe sponges but a huge improvement! If this hadn’t worked, I’d have to run out and get the Bostik Blaze which is also good for urethane grout haze clean-up.

There is no license needed to install tile. It appears that your installer had little experience with marble installations. When installing marble or Limestone tile ALWAYS: 1.Before grouting, on a very clean and dry floor, apply a grout release or a first coat of sealer onto the tile to make it easier to clean off the grout. Use only clean water to rinse the flooring. Note use a penetrating sealer and if you don't want the color of your stone to darken, do not use color enhancing sealer! 2. ALWAYS USE UNSANDED GROUT. Sanded grout can scratch the surface of your stone. 3.After grouting and a day or two to allow the grout to dry. Make sure the surface of the marble is clean and apply a final coat of sealer. 4.DO NOT use a haze remover that is acidic only use one that is specified for marble floors. Acid will etch the surface of the marble and ruin it. 5. CLEANING , use stone soap which can be purchased at most big box hardware stores or tile suppliers or water and mop with a damp mop. Rinse your mop frequently and change the water often as the dirt in the water can get into the grout and/or scratch a polished marble surface. I do hope that your tile problem has been resolved. There is nothing prettier than natural stone for flooring.

Here is two tone grout installed out in UBC Vancouver. The floor is a mix of Italian White and Black Marble. To insure this was done perfectly I advised my clients (under my setter's recommendation) to allow the black grout to cure and be sealed. We left the black grout for over a week I think and then I installed three coats of enrich in seal. Then we taped off the floor a couple days later and did the white. Same process. Be careful with two tone grout installs. There is no room for error. And a mistake is set in stone sort of speak. Make up that test board and don't practice on your new floors. Good Luck. JW .

Hi Marcia, I have 12x12 honed calacatta marble on my bathroom floor. I'm using 409 Stone cleaner diluted with water to clean them. I also use the 409 on the vanity and tub deck so it makes it easier to have one cleaner. I'm too lazy and cheap to order anything more expensive and the 409 is available at my local grocery store. I have used diluted Oxy Clean to clean my shower floor which is also marble but it's a mosaic and has a lot of grout. I'm really careful with getting drops of Soft Scrub on the marble while I'm scrubbing the sinks but I think I'm going to just use the Oxy Clean mix on those too from now on. Neither product promises world peace but Pledge Multi Surface can clean stainless, glass and is MARBLE safe! I just picked some up and am going to try it out on an old remnant before I start spraying my bathroom mirrors and windows with reckless abandon! Update: Pledge Multi Surface is marble safe (I tested it on an unsealed, honed tile), cleans glass AND stainless. So, that brings my favorite, easy to get and marble safe products to a total of 3: 1. 409 Stone Cleaner spray 2. Oxy Clean 3. Pledge Multi Surface spray Did you save a few tiles to run tests on?
