Recommended dealers near North Dallas, TX?
Comments (2)Ijumpman, You can click on a button on this page to find Stihl dealers in your area. Home Depot has stuff at a fair price and a good return policy and I buy quite a bit of stuff from our local Home Depot. But I didn't buy my chain saw from them because they are a "box store" and they don't have a credible service department. My Stihl dealer took a couple of hours to show me the safe operation and maintenance of my chain saw (including how to sharpen the chain) and steered me to the "perfect" choice for me (in my inexperience, I was going to get a much longer cutting bar than I needed). I think it borders on the criminal to sell chain saws in a box to a potentially dangerously inexperienced user. But enough about chain saws. You are interested in a trimmer, and you can't cut your leg off with that, unless you try really hard. From what I hear, Echos are good for the money and with only 1000 sq ft of lawn you could probably do all of your trimming with a pair of scissors. (grin) I'm pretty sure that Home Depot and your 20% off coupon will save you some money to start with compared to a comparable Stihl trimmer. And, if/when your Echo trimmer goes bad, you can always buy another one. Actually, with a lawn that small, I probably would get a good cordless electric trimmer with a rechargeable lithium battery. Cordless electric trimmers have come a long way in the last couple of years, particularly those with lithium batteries. And they have a lot of advantages over gas-powered models. MM P.S. I applaud your choice of a reel mower. They don't "butcher" the grass. You probably should set it to cut as high as it will go. A lot of reel mowers tend to cut the grass too short, unless you have one of those hybrid golf-course greens bermudas....See MoreRecommendation for stone dealers/fabricators near NYC
Comments (6)Thanks avidchef. The price I got from the KD was an all-in price, including installation. I know that they are taking a markup which is ok with me as long as the price stays reasonably competitive. My tile guy is not a fabricator. If what we did last time for the bathrooms is an indication, he will send me to a couple of yards (probably in Long Island City or Connecticut) and if I find what I like, he will have me tell the yard to ship it to the fabricator. The fabricator who did my bathroom counters did a nice job. They were Granitops in Yonkers, if I remember correctly. I know that my tile guy will take a markup if I go with him and I guess I am ok with that too, since otherwise I am just someone off the street to these folks. I guess the question is how much is ok. He probably wants 20%. I also guess that if I went directly to the fabricator, they would charge me more than if my tile guy got involved. I am really afraid of doing this one on my own. I am an experienced shopper, and sourced all my bathroom fixtures and fittings myself and have sourced my kitchen appliances, but stone is a bit of a black hole to me....See MoreLocal cabinetmaker recommendations for Portland, Maine area???
Comments (5)Thanks, twosit.. You're so right... I lived a lot of other places but this was definitely where I wanted to raise my family! Do you recall the names/locations of the cabinet places? I live in Cumberland Foreside, right next to Falmouth. I got my cabinets at Indisco on Rte One in Scarborough, and am happy with them. My friend's new house -that I am helping her do a kitchen for- in in Cape Elizabeth. We priced a local builder and the Indisco cabs, but she is looking for something a little less pricey. Comments (9)From the Simonton line the Reflections 5500 and the Impressions 9800 would be your best choice. They are both good solid windows in their standard form not requiring upgrades. If you find the above windows break your budget the best value in Simonton’s less expensive windows would be the Reflections 5050 with low-e/argon added and upgrading the screen frame to extruded. I would not purchase the Assure for the few dollars it would save. The Reflections 5500 Patio door would be the best choice ordered factory assembled with low-e/argon added....See MoreHan Pag
