Thank you Gardenweb for my beautiful lawn!

It is not perfect yet, still has quite a few dandelions and other weeds, but I can honestly say it is one of top greenest in my neighborhood. Back in April and May it was the brownest. I followed all the advice, including one application of scott's turf builder at the beginning, then I have been using milorganite and corn meal. I still pull about 40 dandelions at a time, by the end of summer I hope they will all be gone. Plus, I have watered only two times so far!

I want to thank everybody for all great advice and invaluable lessons. I think I am ready to start teaching lawn care in my native Poland. They are maybe 10 years behind :) I am including 'before' and 'after' pictures - about 3 months difference.

That is definitely something to be proud of. The trees look nicer, too!!

There's a tool called a Weed Hound, about $25 at most box stores, that you might use on the dandelions. You can stand up and pluck the weeds out one by one about as fast as you can step on them.

And I agree that Europe is 10 years behind - maybe 50 years behind, especially with organic lawn care. Every now and then we get someone from east of the Atlantic writing in here for advice. When we mention using corn or soybean meal as a fertilizer, they seem much more skeptical than the average American.

Yes, it scares me sometimes. Whatever is wrong, or is not wrong yet but might be - they spray - lawns, trees, shrubs and everything else as well. I guess we cannot blame them, they do not have such an awesome forum as this one :) I start to think it is my responsibility to start educating :)

Hi everyone, thanks for the questions and comments. Still looking for my remodel file to get y'all specific names and brands. Hopefully this weekend. athomesewing- Probably the Tapmasters. So convenient, and I have still never been to another house that had them. gooster- Paint credit goes to my wife, it was her pic. I argued for a different color... Her choice was clearly better. We tried around 30 samples... edb2n- Yes it is. And a favorite perch of the cats and our toddler! firsthouse_mp- Yes we did. Had the whole kitchen re textured and painted while it was gutted. momof3kids_pa- The flooring is actually a commercial grade vinyl plank! I know *gasp* vinyl! Extremely easy on the feet and back, comes with a lifetime warranty, and doesn't require glue to be put down; in case of a kitchen flood it can be pulled up and reinstalled later. Doesn't chip or dent, and has been gentle on our dropped dishes, which are not infrequent with a "helpful" toddler in the house. We have laminate and 50's red oak hardwood in the house... And this is far and away our favorite. BirchPoint- it all comes down to personal preference, there's no right or wrong. What I will say though is that when we had our first dinner party, some red wine and pomegranate juice was spilled accidentally and not caught until the next morning; one wipe with water and a paper towel, no staining.

Thank you, all. Gardening is stress relief for me. The roses are a reminder to stop and enjoy. :-) The Molineux lasts the longest in water, the others lose petals after 1 day. Irisgal, Harlow Carr is thorny! Its flowers face downward. It is much more thorny than the others I have:
