New to forum...need a sounding board.
Comments (8)I talked to my mother about moving her back home with me about 2 months ago. We entered a dark period after that discussion. She is so stubborn, she does not want to move. We both felt resentment, and when your mother is dying, it is not a good place to be. So I left it alone and vowed never to bring it up again. BUT, now things have changed. Our caregiver has resigned, and if we don't find someone willing and capable to care for my FIL and my children, which will not be an easy task, then I will have to find alternate arrangements. Today I talked to mom again. She still does not want to move away, so I told her that our only option would be a nursing home here. I could always drive back and forth with the kids to see her over the summer. I even suggested a nursing home back home, but she would not have it...apparently they would not be able to change her dressings. Even if mom did agree to come home with me, I believe it would be too much for everyone. We still have our 94yr old FIL at home needing more and more care as he ages. I would go absolutely banana's. I also think it would be too difficult for the children, to see grandma so ill, and also the thought of them losing grandma and grandpa...oh the pain they would suffer. It will be hard enough on them to lose their grandpa when it's his time, they have grown so close to him. I am just taking it day by day. Looking forward to my respite for now. We will see what will happen after that. Before I go home, I will inquire about the nursing home situation here, just to be prepared if it comes down to that. This is a great forum...so glad I found you guys....See MoreTaking the marble plunge- what accessories do I need?
Comments (15)We have marble, and I've found the long, metal-rod trivets from Ikea to be invaluable. We keep one sitting next to the stove most of the time, and I find it to be much less intrusive looking than the silver heat pads. Another necessity is a giant cutting board. If you don't want to leave it out all the time, you may not want a really thick one. We have a nice Boos block one that we rarely use because it's so heavy, and I hate pulling it out of the cupboard. Instead, we actually end up using our giant one that was originally an under-counter pullout in our old kitchen. We do a lot of prep on it, and its size makes it useful for keeping potentially acidic juices from running over the edge. Here is a link that might be useful: Ikea trivet...See MoreQuestion about Facebook
Comments (8)I take it from your post that you are logged in. Maybe you need to download a program --like Adobe flash player or update your programs to be able to do some things??? I'm not sure. I think facebook has a lot of problems. Originally my name would only come up every now and then when I or someone searched for it -- It was very strange. I contacted them and they did fix it (thankfully), but it just doesn't seem like something that should he be happening -- I mean my name should either come up or not -- why only sometimes come up? -- what program does "sometimes"???... That's a Huge glitch. My girlfriend mentioned that she can't receive stuff (food, smiles, etc) when she does it freezes her phone (she's using her phone) so maybe it has something to do with the system you are using??? Hope you figure it out; let us know if you do. I would bet your log in setting is just set wrong (like my name was). Have you tried changing your password and re-logging in just to see if that would help? Good luck....See MoreI need help and prayers from the KT prayer warriors. Please.
Comments (23)Thank you for telling me what I know should have happened long ago. My sister and brother-in-law are both lawyers. We haven't wanted to upset Diane right now because of her health. But, we are going to ask Bob to help us get him out of here.Like I said, I don't want them to take them, I just want to know how to get him out. When Ken was in the hospital back in March because of taking to many pain pills, I asked the nurse case worker how I could get him out. She told me that because he was a relative and that I had let him move in, the only way to get him out was to take him to court. That doesn't seem right, and because of mine and Jim's health issues, I didn't go further. You asked me if he had mental or physical issues that would make him encapable to take care of himself. He somehow graduated from HS, has held jobs, only ones that Jim or my Dad got for him, and is not so much in pain from his back that he can't work. Sears let him go because he told them that he could only come back to work if he could work for two hours and be able to sit for 20 minutes when he needed to. The disability that he is getting is from insurance that he is payin #179. a month. It is not Government disability. As far as mental, he is really a filthy person. He doesn't shower, my children came over and tore up the carpet in his room, and painted his room purple, what he wanted. And his room is filthy already.I put his microwave and toaster oven on the porch because it is filthy and I don't want it in my house.Shortly after he moved in,I found bugs in the house so made him pay for an exterminator. He pays that every month.Sorry for venting, but that is about all I have done since he has been making our life even more miserable lately. He told me he is perfectly happy here, isn't leaving, and I can't make him leave. New Years resolution. He will leave here. We have looked into HUD houses, but they do inspections and you have to keep the place clean. So, if he doesn't and once he is out, he is not coming back. My Jim use to be a locksmith and this will be one happy job for him Thanks again, for listening....See MoreUser
