Name That Rose!

Ebb Tide or Twilight Zone// and a lavender?

I bought these along with the other roses in the first picture for very cheap. At the moment only the russet and the apricot one, San Remo (thanks for helping out with the id, ozmelodye! ), are alive. I'm not sure what I did wrong but I'm thinking it was several factors, pots and mix with not too good drainage and high temps, since they kept all throught the cold (I bought them in January).

Still, I'm just really curious to know what they were even. The darker purple one is either ET or TZ, and the silvery-lavender I don't know.

I sdidn't get to take many pics, and they bloomed few times. The purple made clusters of 3 often and the lavender made singles but 2 or 3 at a time.

The lavender had a moderate scent and the dark purple a very, very strong one.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give!

I'm not sure what the darker one is but the lighter one could have been Sterling Silver.

I forgot to mention something that might be of importance, the lavender had very awful blackspot problems. I'm in a pretty dry place so BS is unusual, still this variety seemed just that prone; which might fit in with Sterling Silver, from what I've heard...

I loved Barbra Streisand. She produced really well for me, even being a first-year bareroot. She blackspotted pretty hard, but I don't spray. I also have two Ebb Tides. One just put out three buds, and they are the amazing purple I had hoped for when I bought them! The smell is not very clove-like to me; the scent is lovely. The flowers were certainly more pink in the heat of summer. The bushes took a hard hit after a bad storm this year, and were touched but not decimated by blackspot. I have a Night Owl that has done fantastically. It has hardly any scent, but is clean as a whistle, very large, very floriferous (except the JB's loved those blooms TO. Death. ) One of my very favorite roses I planted this year was the mauve Angel face. The ruffled blooms were to die for, and the scent was heavenly. It bloomed very well, too, being another first year rose. (Most of mine are.) Good luck, have fun!

I've been thinking for quite awhile of getting Wild Blue Yonder. Yours is gorgeous!!!! Do you have a bush shot? The 2nd picture of Sparkle and Shine has the same wavy petals that Perfume Delight has. Such beauty in yellow!!! Do you have a bush shot of New Zealand? I had it last year as a new plant, and it didn't do very much. What do you think of New Zealand? Gorgeous flowers. Oursteelers, we have very hot, dry summers--not sure where you're located, but I'll wager it's hotter here east of the Cascades in desert, than PNW where you live. I have three Ebb Tide roses, and they do fine, though, I agree, they can fade and do some frying in the heat, but lots of other roses do some frying in this garden. Evelyn does not fry, nor does Augusta Luise. But the dark roses do burn more easily, the worst being The Prince. Twilight Zone is best here of the purples, and Munstead Wood is good, as far as dark reds go. Ingrid, judging from the Evelyn bouquets I've made today against the blooms currently on Eglantyne, it's no contest. Evelyn is much more beautiful, I think, and smells even better, though Eglantyne has a lovely scent. Eglantyne does not hold up in the heat as well as Evie, and her blooms are smaller. I've grown Eglantyne in two locations from the time she first was introduced in the 1990s, I rarely use Eglantyne in bouquets because she doesn't hold up well. This is just my personal opinion, and I know others may disagree. I hope I haven't offended fans of Eglantyne. This rose is indeed lovely, but not my favorite by a long shot. Diane

Gardening_7b I am not an expert, I just like purple and some of those are newer and small. Lol After looking at HMF, it looks like the Purple Princes are two different roses. My BPP was planted last fall so is very small, a little over a foot tall, but has bloomed and it was a medium-dark magenta so far, it seems very healthy so far. It may change when it matures. I live in z5a Wisconsin so can't comment on da "heat". We rarely get up to 95 degrees in the summer, we can get bad humidity and low 90's for 7-10 days in the summer just as -10-20 in the winter for the same number of days, 46 inches of rain per year average. :) Diane, your roses get so huge! I get some rogue canes that are 5' tall but so far nothing consistent. That Clown Prince is a very pretty rose with the variations of color. I put Ebb Tide so it gets late afternoon shade because I didn't know if it faded and the hottest time of the day here is about 4:00. We'll see what experience I get with Big Purple, it's always fun to compare with other areas of the country. :)

I don't think your darker rose is either Ebb Tide or Twilight Zone. Here is my experience in growing these two roses for years: Ebb Tide is a floribunda that blooms in clusters, not on a thick single stem like yours does. ET does have a lovely strong scent, though. It's color tends toward a smoky purple, while yours is almost a dark pink. ET does fade a lot, but not to such a brilliant shade. Twilight Zone has a less strong scent than ET, and it doesn't fade so much, and might attain a shade like yours in strong sun. It's a grandiflora, so TZ sometimes blooms as a single, but the stems aren't so thick. If I had to guess, I'd say your bloom is TZ. But it doesn't look like any I've grown. I have three ETs in two locations and one TZ.

I would guess that your lavender is Sterling Silver.

Thanks Seil, Diane, stunning pictures too!

This was a pretty young plant with only one cane, in the pics it has two separate blooms, but later on it got to do a cluster of 3. After that it died.

The shade was deeper and definitively purple in real life, my camera could not capture it well; though, yes, not as deep as your pics.

It had many prickles, straight ones. The fragrance was citrusy, maybe a bit spicy. Does that strike any chords by chance?

The second flush was more magenta, maybe it could be Intrigue or Outta the Blue? Can anyone compare those to this?

The lavender rose can also be stainless steel or lagerfield?? Blue girl?? I kno blue girl has nice scent also. Can't remember how deep of a lavender it is tho. As far as your plum colored rose I don't have any guesses but it's definitely not Ebb tide or twilight zone - I have both - the colors off and bloom form. I thought maybe plum perfect but the blooms on that rose fades after opening and yours seems to hold a strong color I haven't a clue what it could be honestly but good luck!
