The mantra for watering is deep and infrequent. Deep means 1 inch all at one time. Infrequent means monthly in the cool months working your way toward once every 7 days as the days heat up. This is not a rule of thumb but guidance - if the temps are above 90 degrees F, then you should be watering more toward once per week. Between 80 and 90 should be about every 2 weeks. Lower than 80 and it's more like every 3-4 weeks. There are other factors including sunlight, humidity, cloud cover, shade from buildings and trees, soil type, soil depth, grass type, grass height, etc. Rather than trying to keep mental track of all that, it is best if you watch the grass for signs that it is drying out. As soon as any part of the yard looks dry, it is time to water the entire yard. If it has been fewer than 7 days in the summer, then water longer. No plan is ever perfect. There are some fungal diseases which cause the grass to dry out and look like it has not been watered enough. If you are certain the soil is moist, but the grass looks dry, then you likely have a fungal disease. Yes, there are fungicides. I use an organic approach so I don't know what the chemical fungicides are. I believe Immunox has been mentioned. Before you get one, read the entire label looking especially for the part about what the maximum temperature should be and rainfall. Summer is not a great time to treat for fungus because of the high temps.

From the picture posted I think it is dog urine. Brown patch has a grey like outter ring and the inside of the disease does not look staw color as your picture shows. Brown patch isn't a concern in bermuda either. Spring dead spot is a major disease for bermuda but that's not it, nor dollar spot. As far as when to fertilize, well if it's not above 90 and you can provide good water then for bermuda the time is now. A good fertilizer for bermuda is one with a high first number with 50% slow release. As far as the rest of the information on taking care of your lawn, try searching online. Bermuda is pretty fool proof and is good for people who don't want to fuss over their yard.

Actually, it looks like both a fungus and a watering problem--the watering problem has set off brown patch. Normally, I'd have you correct the watering and let the system start to fix itself. With brown patch, you can't do that. However, do fix the watering issue. We're moving far enough along in the season that the worst of the hot weather should be ending very shortly. You should be able to drop back to twice a week watering right now, and once a week no later than September first or so. Rainfall counts, so don't irrigate if you receive an inch of rainfall during that week. The patches are large enough and there are enough of them that intervention is warranted. I'd purchase a good antifungal at your local big box store--one where brown patch is listed--and apply at the bottle rate. Then, about two weeks later, if you can apply around 10 pounds of cracked corn or corn meal, that'll help the natural, helpful fungi that just got slaughtered to re-populate. It won't allow the brown patch to reproduce, however, and will also help foster some trichoderma fungus, which hunts down brown patch (and many other disease fungi). It should make you feel better to know that this year has been insane for lawn disease. Even I (who haven't irrigated since May) have a few touches of brown patch, and I currently have alternaria blight running rampant through the gardens. I'm not sure that even proper watering would have spared you this summer and I've had to resort to using antifungals--something I've never done before.

there isnt supposed to be gaps between the sod piece ... and that is causing it to dry in those spots ... it was improper installation ... talk to your installer ... if it was you ... skip that part .. lol ... water when a plant needs water.. how did you come up with this schedule .. perhaps its not enough .. we arent there.. so we cant really tell you how to adjust such ... can you pull back the sod.. or has it rooted into the soil .... if you can.. pull one back.. and observe the soil below.. and make sure it is getting moisture at least an inch down.. so the sod will want to put roots into it ... im thinking adding a third daily watering might not be the right way to think about it.. perhaps you need to water longer for the 2 current cycles ... rather than adding a third ... do not confuse how much water a lawn might need ... you are dealing with how much water new sod needs ... and that is probably much more water ... it might be to your advantage to fill the holes between piece ... the grass will grow into it.. and it will all disappear ... but right now.. the gaps are allowing air to dry the soil below between the pieces ... i would probably not cut out the brown,. if you get watering right.. it will refill said area.. why create more holes ... ken
