e reader question
Comments (7)you can read them anytime you just choose the book in your kindle library and tell it to put it on your kindle for android app then it is on your device to read at any time. to use barnes and noble online you need to have an account set up that just means a user name and password but they do ask that you put a credit card number on file with them so that if you want to purchase a book it will be able to do that automatically, anytime you get a book even a free one you go through the process just like if you were buying it, only the total is zero, and it gets put in your nook library, you can then access it with your nook reader app just like you do kindle and download it to your device. Aldiko has an area where it lets you put in a url address for where you want to get books from and it also contains list of book sources you can just choose to go to, but what I do is anytime I find a book I want (I always get epub format) I download the book to my pc, I keep a folder on it that I put all my ebooks in, then I take the sd card that I use for the device put it into my card reader and copy my books from that folder into the sd card. When I put the sd card into the device Aldiko can access it and I can read the books. On the aldiko home screen there is an sd card icon you click that find the folder that has your books in it, sometimes it is in the ebooks folder, in my recent one it was in the external folder, I just click through the folders till I find the books, put a check mark in front of the book you want to read or you can do all of them and it will say move to Aldiko or something like that. You just leave the SD card in the device. I am not sure about your gift card. how that would work you may have to do it from your pc?? never tried that. Read eBooks On Android Using Aldiko Book Reader this is a little video on how to use one of the various book stores that aldiko can access for you Downloading eBooks to Aldiko from BooksOnBoard one thing I like is that when reading to adjust the brightness of the screen just slide you finger up and down along the left edge it will change the brightness, I always read in the night read mode it is just easier for me to see and especially when reading in bed. feel free to ask anything you need help with. I am still learning new things daily too. In fact I just downloaded that FBreader yesterday to give it a try. If you do not like the browser on your device there are some very good ones you can try out, Dolphin, Opera mini, firefox, and soon there will be a chrome version, several others too. you can add them to try them then delete them if you don't like it, you will be given the choice of which browser to use each time you need to use it. Dolphin is very slick and has the tabs....See MoreE-reader fans, here's a cute cartoon

Comments (9)I think the question boils down to the Operating systems and in that aspect Android is here to stay and of course so is Apple. There are a multitude of various brands using the Android OS including the one on the Kindle fire but Amazon has altered it so it is much more exclusive to Amazon which narrows it's use over a regular Android tablet. I have several Android tablets and just ordered myself a new one for Christmas it is an 8" because I think the 10" are just too heavy for my arthritis sore hands to hold. Brands are just the names slapped on the outside of the tablet they are all pretty much the same if they are running Android just like our smartphones that are Android. This is my new toy VIZIO 8-Inch Tablet with WiFi - VTAB1008 it has a much higher resolution than others and does a lot of other stuff and it does have a camera on board too not that I will use that much and I could use it to control all of my home theater since it also has an IR remote feature built in. I love technology so I know this surely will not be my last buy! I do pass on my older ones to people that can use them. chisue my husband loves his Lookbook he is not in the least interested in any thing else! the one recommendation I give everyone looking at any of the android tablets do not get anything lower than version 2.3 you want Android 2.3, 3.0 and up NOT 2.2 or lower. If it does not say be sure you ask and find out for sure because they are trying to unload a lot of those older versions now at Christmas....See MoreE- Reader Recommendation
Comments (19)I currently have a Kindle touch. When it dies, I will absolutely get the Paperwhite. Sometimes when I read in bed, my lamp bothers DH so I have to use a clip on light and I sometimes have trouble with positioning it. The Paperwhite would let me read in bed without bothering DH. The battery lasts a very long time and I love the dictionary feature for looking up words instantly. With a book, I would have to get up, find the dictionary and look up the word (which I would not do) or I would write down the word and look it up later forgetting the context I hand seen it used. I love my Kindle and now I need to look at Calibre....See Moredandyrandylou
