I've always read a lot, but since DD gave me a Kindle last Christmas, I find I do a lot more reading. Yes, I pop it into my purse whenever I'm heading out, so I can read a few sentences or play a game (my favorite is Threadwords) whenever I have a free moment. Will surely come in handy today--dr's appt.

I love that you don't have to worry about marking your place in your book. Not so thrilled that it's harder to page back to check on a detail. Love that you can have a bunch of books stacked up in it, so you can move right to the next one when you finish one. Really like that there are so many interesting free books to 'buy'. Since Christmas, I think I've spent under $25 on books and I read several a week. DD and I also share if we actually pay for something we know the other would enjoy.

I honestly wasn't sure I wanted an e-reader--but DD got a couple of them free at work. Now? Can't imagine being without one. If mine 'dies', I'll have to replace it immediately, I'm afraid--LOL.

I have had my kindle for a long time and I love the ease and convenience of it. I have always read alot and I continue to use the library, but with the kindle I never have to run out of something to read. I like the opportunity to read samples for free and to see what other books readers who liked the book also bought. Mine works on 3G, not wifi, so I can download anywhere.

I got Harry one for Christmas 2010. He always like to read, but he's turned into a reading junky. He rarely has it out of his hands from morning til night. He can't do a whole lot, so it's a Godsend. He has a Kindle and has had very few problems with it but when he does, the support crew at Amazon gets him going again ASAP.

I still only read at night, but if I have appts that may require waiting, I'll slip it in my purse. I love it.

I have always been a big reader, so I don't think I read any more with my Kindle Fire, but certainly as much. I always carried a book or my knitting, or both, with me anyway, so I still do. It has certainly been cheaper! Most of what I have on the Kindle are freebies that I have "bought", instead of $7-8 per book before I got the Kindle. I just bought anti-glare screen protectors on e-bay for it and for the lap top. I am hoping that it will make it easier to read outside during the day for both of them. I have also put a lot of my knitting patterns on my Kindle, so I don't always have to have a paper pattern with me.

I got my kindle for Christmas and have been reading steadily ever since. I have always liked to read but my library is over 24 miles round trip away, nothing else that way so didn't always get there. I hated to buy expensive books and read only once. I take my kindle with me almost everywhere. Love, love, love my kindle.

I stopped reading for a while, as even with larger print my eyes got tierd to fast. Got my kindle and I can read again. so I read alot again. Luckygardener, You can get the game at Amazon for eather free, or if I payed was .99.

Yes I do read more with my tablets and not just my books but if I am sitting watching a tv show and something is mentioned that I want to know about I grab it and google what ever it was, it sits on the table beside my recliner at all times so is easy to reach. We have now become very accustomed to pausing a show to google something.

I take it to bed every night, I check all the one day sales sites that change at midnight if I am awake, I read my books, I research stuff, I surf and find things of interest that I can easily bookmark to return to or click on the share this page button and email it to myself so I can have it on my pc or anywhere I get my email, I use that feature so much. I find something that might interest my husband I just clik the share this page icon select my email and shoot it to him at his email, he has a direct link to it next time he opens his email.

I do take it with me if I know I will have some extra time at an appt or where ever but if not I always have my smart phone with me that does an awful lot too, I can always play games on it while waiting.

Having the ability to adjust the font and size and use night reading mode is just essential to me these days. So much better than trying to read the printed word in some books.

I think I'm reading about the same amount, but it's a lot easier if I'm heading to an appt and only have a few pages left to read in one book, I can take my e-reader along instead of 2 books crammed into my bag.

It's cut down on trips to the library, too, which is over 20 miles away round trip, so I'm saving gas money, or at least, cutting back on the number of errands I need to run.

I use mine much like Tami does. BK (before Kindle) I always had a book and/or a knitting or crocheting project in my bag for the "wait" times, so I can't say that I read more, just more easily. Now, the Kindle (or Jezebel, as we call her), is my constant companion. I read, or if it is too noisy to really concentrate I will play a game (my favorite is Scrabble). I have put some of my favorite knit/crochet patterns on her and even some of my favorite recipes. We visit out of town friends frequently and share the cooking duties and I like to have my faves with me.

And I have bought very few books, since so many are free and I can "check out" library books for the Kindle, too.

And if Jezebel died, I'd mourn her, but I'd move on and have a new Kindle pronto!

Yes, I do read more. Small print had made it hard for me to read for any extended time. With my IPAD 2, I can take it with me while I walk on the treadmill at the Rec Center or while waiting for appointments. I often read at night if I don't watch the show DH has on.

I also play bridge and Sudoko on it as well. Musch easier to do than in the paper copies for Sudoko.

I'm reading more, I think. My locallibrary is closed for repairs. I need something to help pass the time. DDdd gave me a basic kindle last Christmas. I've loaded up plenty of free books. Right now I'm on Stephen king's 11/22/63. It was great at the car dealer last week to get a brake job and new battery. They had TV news on, so I listened with my ears and read with my eyes. I was actually sorry the car was finished so soon!

I am reading more with the ereader because it is easier for me to read the type than a book. I find most paperback books the type is a light grey colour so I have a hard time reading the print. Now if it was black I wouldn't have a problem. I don't need large type, just darker.

My sister gave me her 3G Kindle but I still prefer using my Kobo touch or my iPod touch. I have downloaded the Kobo app onto my iPod so I can read anywhere. I usually carry a smaller purse so carrying the iPod is perfect. I also don't have to go to the library very often because I can borrow books for my ereader online. So, I would say I am reading more because of my ereader.

I bought a lookbook last year and only used it 1 time. The battery didn't last long enough for me to use it on the plane. Anyone want to buy it?

I read lots...but I read even more with the Kindle Fire...I take it if I'm gonna have some sit time...

Joann my husband absolutely loves his lookbook in fact he has now taken over mine too, our battery last a very long time, but it took him a few tries till he figured out he was not fully turning it off but instead had it sleeping which still uses up battery.
I saw the lookbook recently at walmart.
You know this one is super easy to use if my husband has figured it out lol

I have offered him one of my android tablets but he won't trade his lookbook.

The comments about some "traditional" books' type size is interesting!

I was at B&Noble on Labor Day and noticed Roger Ebert's memoir, "Life Itself," on one of the tables. It's in paperback, but that book is close to 2 inches thick -- 450 pages. Then I flipped it open: The type size is small! That's one book that might just have to wait until I get an electronic device! (Although it might hit the theaters before I get to it: Scorsese plans to make a documentary of it.)

My daughters bought me a Nook Book for Mother's Day. I wasn't too sure about it because I am technically challenged. I love it and do read a lot more now. I have a sleeping problem so I can take the book to bed and don't have to turn the light on and disturb DH.

I don't read more because I've always read a lot, but it is nice to skip trips to the bookstore. I pre-order new releases from my favorite authors and they show up automatically on my device on the day of publication. Carrying a device with multiple books and games and videos is more convenient certainly than packing heavy books.

I read a lot this summer, but only one of the books was on my Kindle--and I haven't finished it yet. The issue with me is mainly $$......most of the free e-books don't appeal to me, and the cost of keeping myself supplied with my favorite mystery authors and various other books would really add up. I enjoy "the hunt" at our library book sales, where I get hardcovers for $1 and paperbacks for 50 cents.

Fortunately, I haven't had much wait time recently. But when I do, I usually use that time to catch up on my magazines. I always oversubscribe!

Alisande? Have you tried any of the free books? There are a gazillion classics--which I mean to read, but haven't gotten around to yet. But a lot of the free books by unfamiliar authors are actually VERY good. If you like mysteries with lots of twists and turns--try the Paul Pilkington book--it's almost always near the top of the free list, can't recall the title. A lot the other free books I've read (and it's been many dozen by now) are surprisingly well written--and there are every kind of book from mystery to romance to comedy to biography to other non-fiction, cookbooks, sample chapters--I literally have bought only about 5 e-books since getting mine. Yes, there have been a couple of clunkers, but a very very small percentage. I'd highly recommend giving a few of the free books a try. Read the reader reviews--I've found they're a pretty reliable source of info.

I haven't bought a single book yet, I get some free ones from Sony and I borrow the rest from the library, e-books. Our library system has many e-books that they don't even carry in paper form, so it's opened up whole new authors to me. Susan, does your library have e-books?
