I mainly use aldiko, and put my books on my SD card so it can be easily accessed plus on the SD card it is not taking up space on the internal memory. In aldiko it goes through tips in the tips it tells how to access the SD card.

I let the kindle leave the books in my amazon library and just select the one I want to read one at a time. You can not read those books on any other reader anyway.
The nook app reads epub so it can read the same as aldiko and can use the SD card, or directly from your nook account.
Aldiko also has the ability to connect to sites so you can download right to it.

Using Kindle, do I have to be online to read a book from my Amazon library or is it downloaded to my reader?

I have a Barnes & Noble gift card and a Nook Account, can I access it through Aldiko, is that what you mean?

you can read them anytime you just choose the book in your kindle library and tell it to put it on your kindle for android app then it is on your device to read at any time.

to use barnes and noble online you need to have an account set up that just means a user name and password but they do ask that you put a credit card number on file with them so that if you want to purchase a book it will be able to do that automatically, anytime you get a book even a free one you go through the process just like if you were buying it, only the total is zero, and it gets put in your nook library, you can then access it with your nook reader app just like you do kindle and download it to your device.

Aldiko has an area where it lets you put in a url address for where you want to get books from and it also contains list of book sources you can just choose to go to, but what I do is anytime I find a book I want (I always get epub format) I download the book to my pc, I keep a folder on it that I put all my ebooks in, then I take the sd card that I use for the device put it into my card reader and copy my books from that folder into the sd card. When I put the sd card into the device Aldiko can access it and I can read the books. On the aldiko home screen there is an sd card icon you click that find the folder that has your books in it, sometimes it is in the ebooks folder, in my recent one it was in the external folder, I just click through the folders till I find the books, put a check mark in front of the book you want to read or you can do all of them and it will say move to Aldiko or something like that. You just leave the SD card in the device.

I am not sure about your gift card. how that would work you may have to do it from your pc?? never tried that.

one thing I like is that when reading to adjust the brightness of the screen just slide you finger up and down along the left edge it will change the brightness, I always read in the night read mode it is just easier for me to see and especially when reading in bed.

In fact I just downloaded that FBreader yesterday to give it a try.

If you do not like the browser on your device there are some very good ones you can try out, Dolphin, Opera mini, firefox, and soon there will be a chrome version, several others too. you can add them to try them then delete them if you don't like it, you will be given the choice of which browser to use each time you need to use it. Dolphin is very slick and has the tabs.

I have to say that I may have a new favorite reader, I am really liking that FBreader. I can access my nook books, all of the books on the sd card very easily and I like the features. Definitely one to try! In fact I have a mobi format book in my kindle and it found that one too. I need to check if it reads mobi books too, that would be a plus.

I just checked and it does in fact read that mobi format book too. Nice.

I added the gift card to my barnes and noble account like you would a credit card but haven't tried to buy any nook books yet. I already had accounts for buying at B & N, Amazon and Powell's long before getting the ereader. :D
