The refinishers took a look and agreed that something went wrong. It appeared that the applicator, the lambs wool brush, from Bona caused the problem. Fibers from it came loose and they were everywhere. They could not see it when it was wet. When them went to get new brushes, they said the distributor mentioned that another 5 complaints similar to mine had recently occurred. I have not been able yet to discuss this with the Bona tech people. But, the refinishers screened the 1200 sq. ft. with a Bona Conditioning pad and got about 99% of it out and put down a final coat. Looks much better. Gary

I assume the Metal Casing with visible nail head your referring to is actually the nailing flange. If so you will need to reinstall these as they are probably not 100% water tight the way they are. The flange is designed to help seal the window to the sheathing in addition to a vapor barrier and caulk. I am afraid the way they are installed will lead you to a major water problem down the road.

Usually an all wood window is less than an aluminum clad window depending on some of the options. Not many brands do a prefinish paint exterior wood window. What is the brand of window, you don't need to say who you bought them from. If in the quote and contract you signed it says aluminum clad windows and you received a different product (wood), then the issue clearly needs to be addressed by the company you bought them from. If worse comes to worse either contact the manufacturer direct to put pressure on their dealer or some sort of legal action (although a last resort, no one likes that mess).

As @joseph_corlett stated in his comment above, your contractor is just trying to see if he can get some money for the doors. Not only do you not owe him any money for those doors, he owes you for the cost to correct the framing (if the new door contractor is charging you extra in order to remediate his mistake). I am not licensed in Florida - but this seems pretty straight forward. If your contractor gives you any trouble, let me know and I will take a quick look at applicable laws in your jurisdiction - and provide you with some information. As an aside - obviously, this has been a very frustrating situation for you. Your frustration is shown by the way you wrote your post. You were trying to fully explain the situation quickly in order to get your post up - so, you could start receiving advice/suggestions. While the details of your situation are clear in your head, it can be difficult for some others to follow along. I understood your post, and so did some others - but, it was a bit difficult to read (not criticizing - I’ve done the same type of thing before - this is just an onservation). One thing that would make your post easier to read/understand, is if you broke it up into paragraphs. The shorter the paragraph, the better. In fact, I tend to break up my posts/comments into more paragraphs than are gramatically necessary - just to try to make them easier to follow/read. If reading your post feels like ”work” - many people will skip it. I figured that out quickly after discovering Houzz about a year ago. I was trying to figure out why some posts received so much attention, while others would barely receive any. I stuck with your post because the title conveyed a possible legal issue - and I purposely try to read these types of posts because helping with legal issues is how I try to ”give back” on Houzz in exchange for the design advice/professional opinions I’ve received (either through my own posts or through reading other users posts). If it hadn’t involved a possible legal problem, I might have skipped over it because I have a headache - and without any paragraphs, it would take extra work for me to get through it.
