Sears Garage door opener won't close w/ remote
Comments (144)The problem I have is my door wont open at all. Neither the remote nor the wall button will budge it. The wall unit and the overhead opener seem to be communicating, since the lightbulbs are flashing, and turn on and off when told to. The remotes seem to have no affect at all. I replaced the chain onto the sprocket assemby and was adjusting the up and down on the main unit, Unit does nothing now when I press button on wall, is it possible to have adjusted the up/down too much to make unit not operate?Anyone have any ideas why my door won't work at all? I would expect the motor to at least chug or something, but...nuthin! Just flashing lights when i press the wall buttons. Sears Model 139.53975SRT1. HELP!...See MoreHelp! Comments (28)This has been a nightmare. I didn't even mention the splintered outlet hole in an obvious location they accidentally cut in our floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinet with pullouts that they tried to cover by gluing over a skin, which unglued almost right away and is flopping loose inside. I know it would have cost them, but those kind of mistakes should require a rebuild of the box, no? Ugh....See MoreBuilder won't include windows on drawing
Comments (57)Let's not pretend that a tract or production builder taking advantage of the power dynamic for a bait and switch is unusual. It is close to the entire business model of many tract builders. If it is hard for you to imagine a tract builder showing a customer a drawing of a house that they know doesn't match the house that will get built, then you are not trying very hard because it happens all the time. In fact, I will argue that if nine out of ten people just say, "the house has still has plenty of windows," then he can turn adding windows he already promised into a profitable endeavor and even if he has to eat one in ten, it is still a great profit making tool for him. The OP notes, "We have already signed the drawings 6 months ago agreeing that these were our plans." Assuming that the OP actually did sign off on that drawing it seems something worth getting professional help from someone who is an expert in contracts......See MoreAdvice regarding window leak and builder who won't help
Comments (7)Perhaps you could ask Marvin to recommend someone to inspect and provide an objective expert opinion on the remedy. Another option may be to contact construction negligence attorneys in cities two or three hours from you. It could be well worth the trouble to have someone from another city, who's not in league with your builder and his buddies, do a thorough investigation. We had a similar problem with another brand of windows years ago and that company gave us the name of a window installation expert in a city a couple of hours from where we lived. Given the dangers from mold and wood decay, we thought it would be worthwhile to pay for his services. In our case, the builder eventually had to remove the brick cladding and have the windows reinstalled after repair work was done outside and inside. Before taking that step, I'd printed the installation instructions and showed the builder who claimed to have never seen a window installed the way the company required. He tried all sorts of easier, cheaper ways to solve the problems, including just caulking, before agreeing to fix the problem correctly. Unfortunately, it took a serious threat of litigation. Good luck!...See MoreRon Lamparski
