Pear tree fruiting early in North Texas

We bought a house in Weatherford Texas (76086) in mid March. There was a tree in the side yard that flowered the next week and looked like pear blossoms. Shortly after the flowers dropped, it started developing fruit. it is now the beginning of June and there are abundant green fruit. Everything I read says pears produce in summer and are ready for harvest August-September. Is it weird to have a pear producing this early? I have also read you have to pick them before they are ripe or they will b poor texture and mushy. So trying to learn whether they just take that long (three months) to be ready to harvest or if this tree is simply producing really early.
