Do you think these chairs will look good with this sofa?
Comments (14)If you are after comfort, I fear that the sofa you posted won't give it to you. That very flat tight tufted upholstery doesn't yield to bodies, and the squareness of the arms and back isn't shaped like people...so although it is a nice clean European modern look, you may prefer something else. Here's something from Crate & Barrel that could give you a modern look and more comfort. For chairs, consider a modern version of the klismos chair. Here is a site that shows what I mean...I have no knowledge of this company or the quality of this chair, but it is an example of the style. http://www.clubchairs.com/upholstered-club-chairs/contemporary/cloverchairloungewith2pillows.cfm Here is a link that might be useful: C&B Delaney Sectional...See MoreWhat do you do with your bedspread/comforter?
Comments (9)I make my bed every morning. During hot months, I only have sheets, a linen blanket and a cotton quilt on the bed along with some decorative pillows, so at night I fold the blanket and quilt into a sort of z fold at the end of the bed. If I get cold, which almost never happens, I can pull them up easily. The decorative pillows sit on a side chair at night and go back on the bed in the morning. In colder months, the duvet is folded in half at the end of the bed at all times except if we get extra cold and want to pull it up. The bed is made with sheets, a blanket and a quilt in addition to the duvet because our outdoor temperature varies quite a bit during the winter and it's nice to have a selection of layers. This winter was so warm that I never put the blanket or the duvet on the bed. I used two cotton quilts instead....See MoreHow do you make a room that is the color of an Easter Egg look...
Comments (24)In answer to the drugs question, yes. My drug of choice in summer is a really nice inexpensive Torrontes from Argentina, $8.99 in the wine department at the Kroger grocery store. In answer to your paint color question, to give the room a more masculine air, set it apart from the rest of your house (a real psychological advantage for a husband's lair), work with your creamy trim color, make that wonderful poster stand out, and reduce the perception of yellow in your oak furniture (and by the bye, painting the furniture would be a gargantuan effort compared with just repainting the walls), choose a rich golden brown. There's "Richmond Gold" (HC-41) from the BMoore Historical group...or Sherwin Williams "Chamois" (SW6131) or "Bosc Pear" (SW6390). There are a couple of the Affinity colors in the BMoore Aura line, too, but I don't have the chips at hand. (I like those because they actually can cover in one coat.) The sheers would soften it, and the warm colors and white linens and black iron and pottery and basketry of traditional French country design would work with it. The blues in the poster will jump out on that background, which will warm your husband's heart. (My DH says that no American man of any age has anything he first chose for himself, because whatever his first wife didn't take, his second wife pitched out..)...See MoreWhat makes a home comfortable and welcoming?
Comments (46)I believe those who argue for the value of exposing children to local pathogens, and getting vaccinations. However, on a planet where millions of people move across oceans and continents each day, usually from one giant population concentration to another, the same for animals, organic goods, etc., there's a lot more to concern oneself with than local bugs. We've never been in a situation remotely like this before. If we do not see a major tragic pandemic, with at least hundreds of thousands of deaths and serious collapse of local and even regional support structures, within the next decade or two, it will be a true miracle. Note that pandemics are actually pretty common. That it's been several decades since a major killer got loose should not be comforting. As we speak here, pathogens are morphing into new forms and health agencies at various spots on the planet are attempting to keep the newest something potentially truly dreadful caged. Being scared just enough to do some sensible family control would be a good thing. My son's work takes him into many nursing homes, hospitals and schools, all major vector crossroads. He tells me he washes his hands good just before he leaves the facilities, but does he always and good enough? He goes home to two small children. With this turn in conversation, I suggest stocking enough aspirin and other NSAIDs, decongestants, antidiarrheals and so on to care for everyone who might take shelter in a home as aids to comfort at least. :)...See More- 7 years ago
