my ailing umbrella tree
Comments (15)Hi, I need help with my umbrella tree BADLY! I have had my tree for almost 10 years. It is about 4 feet tall, my pot is 1 foot 3/4" round and & 1 foot tall. I had it in a plastic pot for about 3 months & started to notice leaves & stems falling off so I transplanted it back into a ceramic pot, there has been no change. Leaves & stems are falling off like crazy, I also noticed that a brand new tiny umbrella on the very top is completely black & dead. Some of the leaves have turned yellow, but mostly not. I also noticed that there seems to be little black dots on the back of the leaves. It has been thriving in the same window for 4 years, so I am shocked at what is happening to it. I have not seen any insects & I fertilze regularly. Please help me, I am desperate to keep my favorite tree alive! Thank you...See MoreRE: Blue Spruce ailing? What Can I do

Comments (15)thanks for responses-as for my warranty I believe its long gone- pretty good nursery (selection, staff) but their warranty is horrible. but the owner did come down this spring and made good on one-so we'll see. I still believe its touch and go with these spruces. I do take good care of them-and believe I have done everything right so far-but still not sold on if they will all make it. Thanks for providing a direct link Pineresin. Actually the picture of tree2 looks better than it does in real life-maybe i can capture a better one again. It seems lime-green almost yellow-green-while all the others are a very dark green. I also believe the interior foliage could be better-it seems barren in spots-and these don't come back I take it? well at least my skyrockets are really taking off (no pun intended). I think the real test will come next spring- early summer- they will be on their 3rd year and i should be alot clearer how well they will do. Didn't know spruce were so picky to get growing and take- If I had known this I probably would have mixed it up with something else, but I am still a novice to all of this. thetman...See MoreHow did folk find out what a tree was or what was ailing it pre web..
Comments (11)There are these things called "books"...........extremely useful things filled with all manner of writings and drawings and photographs and used to be the go-to resource for pretty much any type of information :-)) Some archaic individuals (such as myself) still find them valuable research material and maintain collections of them in what is known as a "library". LOL!! btw, if the 'modern age' referred to above just means prior to the cyber age, the introduction of new plant species from other parts of the planet hit its heyday in the 18th and early parts of the 19th century. The acquisition and growing of so-called 'exotic' plants was a very big deal those who could afford them. Unfortunately, this was how a lot of what we now consider invasive species became introduced into our gardens and from there spread to natural areas....See Moregardener365
