Miele speed oven - real life use and cleaning
Comments (47)I think it really depends on your expectations. If you want your oven to look pristine the way it came out of the factory, then you need an oven that has a self-clean cycle. And that comes with all sorts of compromises including the potential of early catastrophic failure. If you are fine with some amount of permanent staining, then ovens with steel interiors are great. Much less prone to failure than enameled ovens. On the other hand, the enamel is much better at covering up stains. And yes, the top of the oven is always difficult to clean, if there is an exposed broiler element. I recommend coming to terms with that. In the end, it's a cosmetic issue only. I am fortunate that we also have a big old gas oven. I use that for more splattery foods and that allows me to keep my Miele speed oven and CSO more clean. But over time, they still have acquired some amount of stains that stay. I think I can accept that....See MoreHow highly do you value an easy-to-reach oven?
Comments (18)I like them way more than I expected to. I didn't want a wall oven but at the time there was no good range with induction so I went with a cooktop. And I am so loving having double ovens - and at the height they are. Even the lower one is higher up than an oven in a range. I'd hate to go back. I had to get creative with my layout to accommodate the ovens, but in the end I didn't lose important counterspace. I built them in next to the fridge, so the also don't stick out like a sore thumb. I'm 50 and I'm baking more than I ever did- mostly because my kitchen is so much more fun to work in....See MoreUndercounter speed oven vs. MW drawer and Breville smart oven
Comments (18)I know you said you already decided but I am curious how major your remodel is and if you will have to set up a temporary kitchen? I ask b/c that is what we had to do and for that I got the Breville countertop oven and fell in love with it. For the real kitchen I have an Advantium Speedoven/Microwave but we designed a spot for the Breville to live in the pantry. So far the need to microwave and heat something in the small oven at the same time, hasn't occured but if and when it does, I can use the Advantium as the main microwave and the Breville as a back up oven....See MoreHow often do you use the programs on your speed oven?
Comments (2)I guess it depends on what you're planning on cooking, and if those programs cover your needs. I had an Advantium in my last house (for 6.5 years) and always used the programs. With the combination of convection oven, microwave, halogen lights, and cooking duration, it would take a lot of experimentation to find the right settings for each variable. I wouldn't have a clue what the optimal combo is to speed cook 6 chocolate chip cookies, for example. The Advantium made it easy because GE's experts already figured that out-- just scroll through the menu and find your food. I only used manual controls if I was using it as a standard convection oven or microwave, but never for combination speed cooking. I haven't used any other speed oven, so I can't comment on their ease of use....See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years ago
