Kale seedling damage - what is causing it?

I've direct-sowed some Red Russian kale in my raised garden bed (I'm using Mel's Mix and side-dressed with a little bit of organic fertilizer after the seedlings appeared). It looks like the leaves are being eaten? Shriveling? Drying up? I'm not sure, can anyone help?

Below is a group of seedlings where one seems to be totally fine (the purple one) and the others nearby are shriveling up.

I'm thinking I either overwatered or I shouldn't have added fertilizer. I don't see any pest evidence around the seedlings.

I'd love any help identifying this problem! TIA.
