Wolf pro hood, make your own duct cover???

Figuring out ventin on a kitchen remodel. Looks like I can get a used wolf pro hood quite cheaply. It comes with the internal 1200cfm blower and I can pick up a wolf external 1200 or 1500 external for a few hundred more. Figure the 1500 is probably the way to go.

Now for the questions. The duct covers for the pro hoods (island) come in a small range of sizes, you can stack them to increase height if needed (wolf hangs the hood from the duct covers in their design) I'll find out how exhorting the price on these things are when I call around tomorrow. My inclination is to build a frame of angle iron (or 80/20) to hang the hood from, and then get some stainless non weight bearing trim panels made. Wolf does not make custom lengths but they do state you could have custom ones made. I figure it's more flexible to go frame with trim rather than making the cover structural.

btw I'm a mechanical engineer so making a frame that is up to the job is an easy task.

so any comments?
