I have purchased several hoods from Proline for a few kitchens I designed, starting in early 2011 and the most recent was in june 2012. They have really nice and beautiful hoods and I love that they are logo-less. In my experience, there can be issues with the customer service on certain models or things that go on back order if you get unlucky, which it seems Kathleen1945 did. This happened to me when I ordered one that was shipping from a different warehouse and it was backed up. But I just talked to them and changed to a model they had in stock and there wasn't any problem. The thing you do when dealing with them is simply call them first and make sure they have it in stock and that they don't have any issues with the one you want. you really won;t have any problems. One of my hoods I found out had a a problem with the fan in it that was making it really noisy, I guess they said one of the propellers got reversed or something. I didn't have any trouble getting them to immediately replace it. All of the other ones were fine when they arrived. If you are on a budget, this is the best place to get a vent hood. It is kind of a bummer they don;t sell other kitchen appliances. Proline's hoods are great if you want something that is good quality but are ok with it not having a Viking logo on it. I think it is odd that somebody would buy one of these hoods and then pay somebody $600 to install it, the hole point of these hoods is that they are inexpensive and if you are even mildly handy you can install it yourself and save tons of money. Buying a proline instead of a Viking and installing it myself instead of paying a contractor saves me about $2000. Just like buying ANYTHING online, you can get really good deals on great stuff, but you have to be smarter about it than you would if you walked into a store. Thank you, thanks to the Covid I was able to be onsite every day during the remodel. It was the most fun I have had in a long time and our contractor was amazing, I even DIY’d a central vacuum system since we brought the entire house down to the studs (taking pictures the entire way...which i would highly recommend to anyone as we were able to locate things, verify subs work, plus prove to inspector items were according to code that were now hidden). anyway, that’s off topic to your question. We gravitate toward peace and quiet and find the fan noise loud; part of the annoyance is the pitch is high so best way I can describe it would be: it’s similar to a leaf blower in pitch/tone with volume level slightly below lowest level of a range hood. And the hotter your oven cooking temperature the longer it remains running to cool down, I haven’t actually timed how long it stays on, but as an example if we bake something at 350 the fan runs for probably 15-20min after shutting down. It doesn’t help that our ovens face the dining room and with an open concept kitchen/living and just cased openings to the dining the sound echos a lot so we are considering options such as acoustic panels (https://www.acoustimac.com/acousticart). This is our first foray into high end appliances and had no idea the ovens had this “feature” so it was a bit disappointing when everything else is so nice...but our food comes out so much better and if you run the vent hood motor on medium or high setting it would totally drown out the oven fan, so there’s that solution i suppose, lol! Seriously, though, if we ever do another house I would seriously consider creating an oven alcove that helps reduce the noise and the direction it is thrown. another interesting discovery is there is a secondary fan that runs 24/7 (at least I assume as I have never not felt it running) that you can not hear and only barely feel a breeze when right up against the oven (comes out just between the upper oven and the control panel). It is cool air so it appears Thermador is vigilant about keeping the electronics from over heating even when off. finally, i forgot to mention how interesting the fridge/freezer column are in that you never hear the compressor kick on like a “run of the mill” fridge, just a fan kicks on very infrequently and only for about 30 seconds then quiet...oh and the ice cubes, love the pyramid shaped cubes and the fact they don’t stick/melt together (unless power goes out), but unfortunately almost an entire drawer is gobbled up by the bucket being centrally located and scoop off to one side for easy retrieval...but again we only have the 18” freezer column.

Hi Donna, I got the older professional models. I believe they came out with new ones about 4 months after I bought my ovens (about 3 years ago). They were liquidating the floor models. I was not even aware they came as a single unit. There is a shelf between my two ovens. I got the Thermador induction 36KITCB with the 5 burner spots, but based on your other post (I tried to message you directly as an answer and stumbled on your other post with the picture of the wolf and your grilled cheese) you look like you want the whole thing as a burner. We don’t have a large set of pans and my wife keeps saying we should buy a couple bigger ones. We just have a cast iron, a 12 inch, a 10 inch and a Wok so don’t need much more. Never had an issue but we never make more than 4 things at once. I love induction so far. So much easier to clean than gas. Water boils super quick and I enjoy the temperature responsiveness. My concern was when I read the reviews on the freedom it had some electrical kinks. I assume they have worked that out or you can get the guaranty. Personally I liked the look of the wolf induction top more and had I not got a great deal on my Thermador I would all things being equal pick the wolf. They are both good brands and make quality products. Since you also mentioned you will need new pans. I have an All Clad 5ply and a couple 3 ply Scan pans. I actually find myself reaching for the Scanpan more. For what it is worth for Dishwashers I read Miele and or Bosch products (Thermador or gaggenau) were best. I wanted one with the salt and quiet since I read it cleans better and is less likely to have that smell. Hope this helped!

We have two homes which both have complete Miele appliances. From two convection ovens, six burner cooktop (one electric and one gas), a built in coffeemaker, steam oven, microwave and plate warmer, the refrigerator and dishwasher. We have never had any problems with any item. Gaggenau started making some appliances in the 1990's whilst Miele has been making appliances for almost one hundred years. I am not sure what you are saying when you wrote 'would fit a very, very skilled home cook in a average week or month', as if you are a very, very skilled home cook, these are appliances just like the ones you are using, only better. Personally, I would go for the Miele appliances over Gaggenau. The have been making appliances much, much longer than Gaggenau, owned by Bosch.
