Anyone own the TFAL Act-Fry???
Comments (12)Islay, I meant no offense. I know that there are people on that side of the Atlantic who have goodly kitchens. It's just that I've known folks in France, Belgium and Germany who had very expensive flats that weren't much bigger than my front porch (which isn't enormous). Some didn't have ovens at all. One had a regular range (cooker) with a small, but adequate, single oven. Another had an under counter built in that's the size of a large toaster oven. Point taken about the chips (fries). I guess I don't know enough people who make a lot french fries at home. The reviews Ive read of the machine say they come out just like oven fries, but I have no personal experience. I was just disappointed when I found out what it did because I would have loved some magical Star Trek device that made flash fried fresh eggplant, rice noodles, tempura, and good ol' fried chicken....See MoreOT - Do you let others cook in your kitchen?
Comments (38)I've never had anyone offer to cook before, but we don't have many visitors and since we've been destroying the house at every opportunity, I'd hate to ask anyone over for a family dinner. Everyone is holding out for the finished product, I believe. That being said, I would let someone cook. I doubt they could do any more damage than I could in one meal. But we have a pretty no-fuss kitchen. It's meant to be used, and if something happens, it happens. It can be replaced or lived with. I did have a family member come over early one morning to watch the girls so I could go to an appt. without waking them up at 5 am. She called at 7 am to ask how to work the range. In that moment I saw myself being greeted in the driveway by firetrucks and the charred remains of the new kitchen. I told her there was cereal and oatmeal in the pantry, and the microwave was in the pantry cabinet in the kitchen. I probably would stay in the kitchen were she to offer....See MoreCooking REALLY small portions...
Comments (4)Yes, but dollhouse miniatures aren't necessarily usable for real food, and the whole point for the art is that he made everything. Thanks, Jakkom! I love it! The fact that the act of cooking and serving the food to the audience is the essential part of what he does, is quite meaningful. It combines all the elements of hospitality with the beautiful handmade kitchen, and the connection to the people where they happen to be walking rather than in an art space or food space. Really quite lovely!...See MoreQuotes 11 - 20 - 17 page 1
