Comments (23)@Blairgirl, Wow.... The Powder is Amazing. I used 1 teapoon of stpp, and filled the rest of the detergent cups with the powder.. and guess what. Only the powder in the prewash cup dissolved completely, with about 20-30% of the main wash powder actually dissolving. Even with that little detergent, everything came out Spotless, and Clean :) There was no stuck on Oatmeal, or Cereal on anything. The un-rinsed Egg Yolk on a pan completely vanished, and our glasses were film free, and clear. I tried the same amount of detergent again, in another load, and it dissolved completely, surprisingly. (I didn't think it'd work, considering my DW hates Powder so much). Once again, everything was Nice & Clean. I'm honestly very curious, to try the Powder without any additive whatsoever. It seems very powerful, and efficient by it self honestly. Oh, and I haven't seen anything stick or redeposit to my glasses or dishes yet, however, if I do, I promise I'll report back. Next Project.. Seeing what STPP does with Tide :) This post was edited by OneBigMess on Tue, Jan 29, 13 at 0:03...See MoreSomat has arrived
Comments (110)Stuck on food isn't a problem for me...but once in awhile I find granules of what must be food debris in cups..not often..that's when I run the D/W again. I can't figure out why it does this. I rarely put pots and pans in..occasionally a cookie sheet type pan that I bake pork chops on, it comes clean. Oatmeal no problem and I make it at least 3 mornings a week since the boys LOVE it. My only real problem is those occasional food granules. I also want to add Mich's Recipe Cascsde Gel with Chlorine and STPP is fabulous. .I used to put the gel in the dispenser cup sprinkle the STPP and stir...now I put the STPP in first the gel on top and don't stir..Works Great I highly recommend this mixture for anyone with an older D/W. Another thing my electric bill has been sky high..I couldn't figure it out since nothings changed, it should have gone down with no A/C running non stop, about 5 weeks ago I thought maybe my D/W heater for the dryer so I have it shut off..I got my electric bill last week..it dropped 60 whopping dollars. I won't be running the heater again..its almost time, I'm really going to have to retire this machine. I'm on the hunt for a rebuilt vintage one. Sparky remember that Lady Kenmore I could have had..damn I regret that loss....See MoreFinish Advanced Dishwasher powder
Comments (38)Another place to look...small dirty looking mom and pops stores. .often these are in the not so good section of town. And keep an eye out on Big Lots..sometimes they run across old stock of stuf f in the back that they put out. What about your current day Cascade powder mixed at 1 part STPP to 2 parts Cascade...that should be giving great results. Although I'm sure the heavy handed amount of Sodium Carbonate in it may interfere. Some of us old timers here will remember how great laundry detergent with phosphates used to be, everything was clean and never any worries of residue. But, a few people screamed to the high heavens about the phosphates, turned out consumers only accounted for 3% of the problem if that...so they were removed and a trade off was used...several other chemicals replaced phosphates that from what I've read have worse effects on the human race. but your not here for a history lesson LOL...See MoreCascade Complete Powder with Dawn + STPP..Update
Comments (4)I need to keep a diary, been using too many different detergents in my d/w to remember other than the main ones what does what. I'm going to try the Old Skool Cascade again, and the Cascade Complete with Dawn adding STPP, I know last time I used these I had poor preformance, but maybe that was before letting my machine wash longer. I know the powder is cheaper to use so I'll check it out. I have been hanging onto all these vintage detergents for the kids but I'm thinking I should start using at least the ones that work. I'm going to keep a diary this time. Lol...See More- 8 years ago
