I think you should enjoy your new plant because plants make the home so much more enjoyable! Who cares if it spreads out- move other things around to make space. Name it if you want!

The good thing about dracaena is by the time they get too large, they will have lost most of their lower leaves so they can canopy the shorter plants instead of push into them.

I love them all! Those look nice. One is fine, two is better. Nine is divine! I think that's how many diff kinds of Drac I have.

Yours looks like the top of a large plant that was pruned off and rooted in a small planter. I doubt the new growth will be as big as what is on there currently.

That's where all of these plants come from, propagated cuttings.

Tamiya - that's good to know, tho I think in terms of overall space, it may work out better for now to keep this one in a separate pot (two smaller pots are easier to work with than one larger pot w/two plants in it). Maybe when it and the other drac have grown up enough they can be roomies.

SaraM - I do enjoy it! I'm just almost literally out of well-lit space to move them all around in . . . I need to make more shelves.

Mentha - good to know. They can share space with all the extra spider plants I will probably have by the time they are taller.

Tiffany - noooooooooooo, there isn't space for that many here! Except I kept admiring the lemon-lime dracs at the nursery, so probably there is going to be a third in the house at some point.

jpciii/Tiffany - yeah, that was my thought; I wonder if there was an accident with a bigger drac at the nursery, and someone decided to turn the top bit into a new plant. It's so out of proportion with the pot. The label they slapped on it had some atypical language on it as well; a lot of the small plants have no ID at all, but this one said to ask for ID and care instructions. If the new foliage turns out to be smaller, oh well, that's okay, I won't have to fuss as much with leaves colliding with other plants/the wall/etc.

How is your plant doing?

It's not doing much of anything, which I suppose is good, because at least it isn't UNhappy after being repotted a few weeks ago.

The little pot it was in was really full of roots, some of which were angled up. I couldn't do a lot to really detangle them - the biggest, stiffest roots were wound around and around, and I couldn't get them downwards - but I spread the mess out as best I could in the new pot.

Those roots look great! They'll adjust. Yes, they grow glacially slow, upward. Your leaves are prob max size.
