While it is not depicted, I intend to have a small refrigerator either in the cabinetry under the stove or as a stand alone. is "Storage" intended to be the ONLY storage for clothes and linen/towels? What about a dresser? Mmm...yes. I had not thought of a dresser. There is room to expand the right wall, behind the area marked "storage", further into the basement. However, due to the vents behind the wall the ceiling height would be lower than the rest of the room. is there additional storage outside of this room? The rest of the basement has a lot of empty room but I wasn't planning on giving any additional storage to the occupant. There is no room to move between the counter and sink in sketch 2. The sketch is not drawn to scale but that is a valid point. Need to double check. is the only access through the sliding door? There is a door (first pic above) which leads to the basement and the laundry room. However, the sliding door (which will be replaced by an entry door) is the primary access.

that is a lot, lot of wood! It's nice, but it's just a lot. would you consider painting the window/door trim and the baseboards in white? it really would look so nice, especially w/the pine ceiling and the oak floor. here is a before/after here's a wood ceiling and floor w/white window trim so you can see another pic w/your pine ceiling next to white trim (ignore the coffered ceiling beams) If you'd like to put in a few beams, do them white: (notice white trim again!) I'd have the floors stained in a walnut shade. Oak is beautiful in that coloring and if it's red oak, it will hide the natural pink tone. this tone. If you need to put in shelving, consider something like this w/a black background. notice the white trim/baseboards. actually, if you will be doing flooring, consider removing the existing smaller wood baseboards and replacing them w/the taller white ones, like in this pic above and the one showing the wood floor, above. As for ceiling fan, since you don't need the light, pick something in a sleeker type of fan blade, less bulky than what you have.for the storage issue, I don't know what the budget is, or do you have DIY skills? plenty of built-in type of cabinets you could do. OK. Here is Rev. 2. Still some measurement issues but mainly fireplace position. I think the TV over the fireplace is best because the angle and space to right of fireplace is not very large without overlapping Bay Area. I removed the soiled piece of the sectional to make everything fit nicely. (Convenient). I guessed on size. But these are fairly standard so I think I am close. I used Beverly’s idea for a console and art above it on wall to left of office doorway. I don’t know why the wall with the fireplace pops out but doesn’t go to office door. Might be worth building that out so the TV can be placed over fireplace nicely. But if not, we can design wall to have possibly a mantel that runs across and around end. Just depends on styling desired.

Thanks for info. Your other stylish rooms offer a good guide to what you like. I suggest going for spacious elegance rather than glam for your office. Your wood desk is clearly in full use and has nice color that matches the stairs' wood. Start by removing all the art, lamps, floor lamps, knickknacks and anything smaller than a basket ball. Put them all on the dining room table for a while to be out of the way. Then trade the wood table with the chair-with-occasional-table. Put the shiny black lamp back on the desk. If you love the New York skyline print, hang it back up. Then pick some new bold graphic artwork (same strong impact as your art in the dining room) for between the sconces. Add one bowl or decorative item to the console table. Store the rest of the items to rotate every few months with the change of seasons. Fresh flowers or green houseplants that give an air of thriving life are much more attractive than fake greenery. A gorgeous coffeetable book or nothing at all on the occasional table would be much better than piles of books. A fine old edition, if you prefer those to coffeetable books, could be showcased on the console table. If you have a second chair to match the first, bring that in for guests. Remove the coffee table which serves no purpose.
