I've been cooking too. I had a small bowl of chicken rice soup. Also put a porcupine meatball/gravy over a baked potato.

Three dear friends, who are now residents, here,, after Katrina, and I went out to eat. Went to the very famous Niki's West cafeteria, and we left stuffed. Excellent food.

Two had lamb with mint jelly, two of us had veal cutlet, and veggies that were eaten were fried green tomatoes, fried mushrooms, 7 layer salad, mac and cheese, delicious yeast rolls, fantastic peach cobbler.

Being as they are from New Orleans, and the husband loves cajun cooking, he brought me a huge cajun stuffed bell pepper for me to enjoy this weekend.

I have a big sirloin roast cooking with garlic, onions, bell pepper, fresh mushrooms, and tomatoes for a wonderful tomato gravy, I will cook rice to go with the gravy. One of my favorite meals. I loved when mom fixed this for us. Sending some to you mom and dad!

Rosemary garlic shrimp in a white wine and lemon sauce. Served over basmati rice.

Fish--it's Lent.

Cleaning out the refrigerator....bought a roasted chicken yesterday and finished it off with curried chicken salad.

Been busy running errands. Car developed a "drive train malfunction" and had to hobble in to the shop as an emergency patient. Fortunately I was able to get a loaner! Busy day tomorrow and I need wheels!

Dinner? Probably salmon salad with capers and shallots and pickles and whatever else sounds good at the moment.

The last of the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. There were brownies with cream cheese frosting and bear claw coffee cake for dessert.

We made homemade pizza, what a treat! I used Bobby Flay's recipe for the crust using bread flour and was it ever good! Pizza, salad, and wine while watching House of Cards on Netflix.

We went out to dinner with a group of friends before going to a play that another friend had a role it. The group ended up selecting "Bonefish Grill" -- several of them had been to it before and raved about it. To me the meal seemed nothing special, the beer on-tap selection was laughable, and the table normally sat 6 people, but since we were 8, they folded out some leaf at the end of the table that barely added 1 foot of table space and which sloped down at a 5 degree angle making it seem that our food or drinks would tip over or slide off at any moment. Plus the food itself was bland and uninspired.

I don't know why they would select a chain restaurant when there are so many good local restaurants around.

Bob, our experience with the Bonefish Grill here was equally disappointing. Flavorless and without any seasoning whatsoever.

mimipadv, that was the first time I used Bobby's recipe but it sure won't be the last. I rolled a pretty thin crust and it was so flaky and crunchy.

My wife's meal, the "Talipia Imperial" had quite a bit more taste than my meal. However, according to her, not a good taste at all. Plus, since we had to leave to get to the play (about 15 minutes away) we didn't have time for dessert , so the bad "chalky" taste lingered until we got there, and for some amount of time through the play.

That's a shame about the talapia at BFG. I've always enjoyed it.
