Upper 60's sunny and very very windy! Cold again tomorrow, but warmup next week. Went to my favorite deli and had cold cuts on rye. Tasty

I made a large pot of pea soup today. We'll have some tonight and I'll freeze the rest. It's going down to 15 tonight...Very cold for here so a nice bowl of hot soup will be welcomed.

It's in the low 70's here, and a little hazy. So lovely to be outside. My dh's birthday is today (one day after dd's!) so we'll have Indian food: dosas, dal, eggplant and potatoes. Carrot cake for dessert, and I'd better get to making that.

I put some really nice pork in the slow cooker to make pulled pork sandwiches for dinner. A little salad to go with it.

I woke up to a wind chill of -30. I decided a steaming pot of slow-simmered salmon chowder would warm the kitchen, my soul, and make a good dinner for my raised-Catholic husband.

I peeled and scrapped and chopped and browned all the veggies, added broth and water, spices and herbs and magical ingredients, and set it to simmer. When he's home and ready to eat I'll pop in the canned :( salmon and milk and serve it up.

I do have a wonderful slab of Alaskan salmon in the fridge, but that's for grilling, not making soup.

Caroline, I would love to have your recipe for salmon chowder if you would be willing to share it.

Patty melts are on the menu tonight. Will serve with cottage cheese and sliced tomatoes.

Gadgets I have that on the menu for very soon! We love it.

Cajun Salmon with Avacado & a Baked Potato

AAA we had salmon, too, with rice & wild rice. The salmon was on sale today at our local grocery, along with asparagus, which I sauteed with little red, yellow, and orange peppers. Everyone in the family complimented me on dinner! :)

Sounds yummy mama! I made 2 of these big filets. Tomorrow will have 2 salmon tacos with the other.

There were several pieces of the salmon I baked left over, too. I'd never thought of salmon chowder until I read caroline's post above, so I googled it. I wonder if I could call it chowder if I left out the corn? I've never been able to eat creamed corn. I made chicken stock last week, and I could use some of the finely diced peppers left from last night.

We love cream of potato soup, so maybe I'll try something new tonight.

ETA, I found a recipe with carrots. That works!

It's cold, cold, cold this weekend. Currently it's -23°C. (-9°F)

Last nite we just had tuna salad sandwiches with soup. I had cauliflower and he had minestrone.

I've got chicken parts in the frig thawing to make a couple of different meals out of. Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic is one (I've got too many garlic heads) an another chicken dish with others.

I made the salmon chowder tonight, and it was a hit! I didn't have the heavy cream that the recipe listed (not that I followed the recipe exactly), so I used cream cheese and milk instead. Very good fare on a cold winter night.

Very warm here in the upper 70's. I made grilled chicken breasts and salad.

I roasted a nice hen, stuffed with kasha (whole grain buckwheat, assorted mushrooms, onions, pecans, celery, etc.), Robert's favorite. Had cooked buttered carrots with orange zest and a bit of honey.

The little girls next door and I made some special Valentine cupcakes on Thursday and I saved him one for desert, super chocolatey.
