Well now I guess I have an older Euro FL machine. I have the Miele 1986 1 model before the 1215 and 2 models before the 48X. It does do high speed spins between each rinse...not the highest speed but they are very fast and it rinses well..but not with any formulation of Tide and my water. My KA top loader could never rinse a single load when using regular TIDE. The stuff is just to foamy in my water and I ended up with skin rashes from it. I wrote an email to P&G about this problem. They replied that there had been reports of clothes feeling spongy after using liquid Tide, and suggested that if I couldn't use it or regular tide that I should dry dreft because it was made for babies and made to rinse cleanly. This was years ago so I don't know what the case is today..except that I avoid detergents with the name TIDE on them. I have used Ariel from the UK also made by P&G and it rinsed very well, so something in the formula is different. So does the 48XX and other USA supersized FL do slow spins between the rinses?

Hey Cal. I would not say they are entirely synchronized, but pretty close. I tend to wash FULL loads unless it's a cycle that I shouldn't (delicates, f.ex) so I find that the dry time is almost always longer than the wash time. My wash time for Cottons Universal @ 115F is, IIRC, 65 minutes: that's with cold fill and three rinses. I find that the wash time is very close to the estimate at the beginning of the cycle. Contrast this to my previous machine that could easily add 30 minutes in additional balancing adjustments. I find my average dry time is around 70-80 minutes. I do an extended cool down and generally select lower-temp dry cycles (though even the low on a condenser is still HOT). The exception is the "Automatic" cycle. I *must* use this cycle for sheets and blankets because it does tons of auto reversing right from the very beginning. I was having a devil of a time with balled sheets until Larsi turned me on to this cycle. The only downside, of course, is that it's a much cooler cycle and runs long. Not uncommon for my heavy linen/cotton blend blanket to take 90+ minutes to dry. All that said, no regrets. Clothes come out wrinkle-free and looking cared for.

Mark the washer did not smell at all. I opened up and I smelled every single part of that machine. Undid hoses, smelled the pumps etc. The smell was in the clothing. Towels were completely fine. Sheets were completely fine. The smell only came when I washed clothing. When I got my new machine I still got the smell when washing clothing because the bio stink was in the clothes. I had to wash all our laundry multiple times on sanitize cycle with ammonia to finally get the smell out.

I got my w1/t1 set in January to replace an old top-loader. I didn't get the TwinDos version. Our clothes have never been cleaner. The whites are whiter, stains I thought were permanent have faded or disappeared. I'm very happy with these machines. Since the coronavirus outbreak in my hotspot city, I've been selecting the "pre-wash" and "extra rinse" options on every load, pushing the cycle time up to 2.5 hrs. The heat pump dryer is excellent - I adjusted it to our soft water and it dries clothes quickly. A load of towels and bathmats dry in under an hour.
