New Pachira additions! Help lucky bamboo yellowing

So I decided to add to my pachira family got 2 new babies yesterday they are beautiful sprouting all over I think I need to repot ASAP because I see roots sticking out of the pots growing out of the stumps! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated my green family is extending rapidly lol I have my pachiras, pothos and my lucky bamboo which is now growing up the wall but I'm a bit concerned because it's yellowing and I'm nervous Help what do I do??? Too pics are my new additions bottoms are my sick bamboo

Do the pots for the pachiras have any drainage holes at all? If your doing a repot wait until late spring early summer to do so. Also make sure you repot them in a well draining mix (usually wise to stay away from miracle grow) and pots that have drainage holes.

Can't really help you out with your lucky bamboo (really dracaena braunii), but your post was getting pretty low So I thought I'd bump it up :)

Thank you the pachiras are actually inside of other pots with drainage inside of those pots so of course when watered it's a pain to get them out to drain excess water I actually had to cut my lucky bamboo because the yellow was very bad on my one I had been growing it for 3yrs poor thing it was over crowded so I separated them all now I have 5 pots of 8 and my bigger ones are now smaller but they'll grow bigger again. Hello! I would like some help & advice on my bamboo plant. This plant was given to me earlier this year, about April. The plant has been growing a lot. I changed the water routinely, and fertilized and the leaves and plant were beautiful and blooming. Last week I changed the pot it was in to a much bigger one since the plant was thriving so well it was on the verge of tiping over since it was huge. I placed rocks in it, and fresh water. Last Friday the plant seemed fine, and then I come to work this morning and the leaves are turning yellow. Mostly on one stalk, but it seems like it's starting on the others as well. There are 6 stalks tied together. I changed the water, cleaned the vase and the rocks and put in distilled water just now. As I changed then, I saw that the stalk by the roots and turning a greenish yellow, but I didn't notice that before. What is going on with my plant? I'm so worried!! What do I do now? I can send more pictures!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

I agree with TJ. I got one about 13 years ago, and it came in a dish with pebbles and water. I kept it like that for a couple years, but then decided it would be better in soil. It has thrived in soil, and even grew new stalks, which actually are attached to one of the main stalks, but below the soil, so it looks like a seperare stalk. If you choose to keep it in water, you MUST change the water often. I used to change mine every couple of days. Also, water has no nutirituve value, so you need to fertilize it, but because the fertilizer can't leach out, you must be very careful with it. Just look at typical fertilizer dilution. Per gallon, you only need a teaspoon, 1/4 teaspoon if you feed every time you water. Now think of that, and think of how much fertilizer you may have put in, even though it was only "a pinch". A pinch is probably good for a quart or 2 of water, depending on what kind of fertilizer you used. I would suggest you pot it up, and keep it out of direct sun, to avoid bleaching it. Mine thrives in lower light levels, with no direct sun. Good luck! Joe

Hey, i am having somewhat of the same problem, although my bamboo are half the size of what you got there, I'm sure that they are probably not over watered and doesn't look like over fertilization, there is a chance the soil may be too hot on the inside, or might be to much heat, then again it could be one in a million things. How are they doing now? Have they recovered ?, if so what was the issue?.

I solved my issue, mdln. I sliced off the yellowing nodes with a sharp knife.dipped the tips in hot wax. I also have them in only water. (No rocks/gravel) so then there is nothing blocking the pores. Since making this post, I already see signs of new shoots growing. Good luck!

Angie, I bought two Pachira in those same pots. I put a little bit of aquarium gravel in the bottom of the cache pot to raise the plastic one a bit to make it easier for removal while watering. I would also move the 'bamboo' to a spot with better lighting. They look very elotated, they probably won't last very much longer away from a natural light source.

Your Pachiras are beautiful, wow! You're having amazing results with your "lucky bamboo" in water too. Very cool, never seen one get tall enough to need some kind of support like that.

Dracaenas are sensitive to chemicals in tap water (that can't evaporate when water sits.) Using rain, distilled, or condensate from a dehumidifier or A/C can help keep them as healthy as possible whether in water or a pot.

They're not an aquatic plant in their natural habitat, so if you'd like to try moving some to pots, I think you would be impressed with how they do, especially with more light, as suggested. Usually much more leafy that way (but the feng shui is compromised.) There's a lucky bamboo forum here, though a very slow and repetitive one, if you'd like to read more discussions about that. It's pretty much "the" topic of that forum.
