I'm having it installed in my current house soon: great room, living room and hallway, but that doesn't help you today.

Ask on the home decorating forum. A frequent poster there has Amtico LVP throughout and it looks great.

Like mrspete, I can't help you today with pictures, but this is what we're planning for our new house -- basement, first floor, second floor. Karndean LooseLay in a wood-look for every room, all the same pattern.

We currently have TrafficMaster Allure installed in our entry, kitchen, dining room (all open/connected), installed four years ago, and it's holding up very well. No problems at all with expansion, contraction, or fading, but there has been some scratching around the dining room table from sliding chairs. That's one reason we're going with Karndean for the new house, we've seen it in several commercial applications where it's subjected to a more punishing routine and seems to have held up well.

The Kardean Art Select and Van Gohe lines are the most realistic wood tones/textures I've seen. I almost went with it but after spending a week with a 4'x2' sample the plastic sheen it gave off in certain lights changed my mind.

For $0.80 more per sqft I was able to get 3/4" x 4" hickory, water pop, custom site stain and a commercial satin finish. Bit more maintenance but after it gets beat on or I get sick of the color I can refinish for less than 1/3 the cost to replace.

Either way visit the manufacturers website and pick the colors you like then google that color. Its surprising how many installs you'll find.

I'm not overly concerned about it looking like exactly like wood, because for me the practicality and price are paramount, living in a rural area with a busy family. I'll have a kitchen open to the dining room and living room, and I don't want hardwood in the kitchen. And I do like the idea of a clean look with the same flooring throughout. Plus I grew up with hardwood floors in a NYC prewar apartment, so I have particular expectations for hardwood : ) .

Though I have to say that even the TrafficMaster Allure has fooled a lot of people, including visitors from Europe who live with hardwood themselves. And our dining room has windows on three sides, so it gets a lot of light.

Besides, I'm so thrilled with vinyl plank flooring that I'm happy to tell anyone who asks about the details.

We put it in our new build that was finished in November so we have only lived with it a few months. So far it is working great for our family. With 2 dogs and 3 cats running through the house it does take a beating.

We put it everywhere except for the bedrooms, upstairs bonus room and the master bath. If you look on the flooring forum I have a photo of my entry and a photo of the end of the box so everyone could see what we used.

You will want felt bottoms for all your furniture. LVP can be scratched. It holds up well to most normal wear, but not to sharp objects or scratches (it is cut with a utility knife during install). I moved my stove over my LVP and it left scratches on the finish (not the colorant or grain), so felt bottom under the stove feet too and limit moving heavy appliances. Always sweep before dragging something heavy across the floor.

I have buffed those scratches out with some paint stripper, made them less visible.

I have the felt bottoms but it's tough getting them to stay on, especially on very movable furniture, like kitchen chairs! So I'm actually toying with the idea of a rug under the table. I have oriental carpets all through the house, in the living room and in the bedrooms. When necessary I use a furniture pencil/marker or Tibet almond stick.

Vith, if it helps, every six months or so when we move our range (a 60 year-old O'Keefe & Merrit beast) so I can clean behind, we slide it out along two plywood strips over the flooring. Hasn't scratched yet.

The Karndean LooseLay is a heavier product which requires more than a utility knife, which is what we used for installing our Trafficmaster Allure.

I put Mannington Adura glue down all through out a weekend home about 10 years ago. I looked at a variety of the better LVT that are suitable for light commercial before deciding. Don't hesitate to ask to see commercial samples. Any large flooring store should have them in addition to residential market flooring.

I was very happy with the look and ease of care. Other posters are correct that you should take care not to drag furniture across the floor to avoid scratches. I just wish the previous owners in our current home, with prefinished wood floors, had been careful...we have many deep scratches.
