SCUFFS! My grandmother used to crochet slippers like this! I grew up with those...that was the ONLY slippers I ever had until I was out on my own, then I realized what I had, and couldn't live without them. When she was getting worse with Alzheimer's, I asked to make the kids each a couple of pairs, and also myself. She used to make wonderful mittens also...soooo warm! I am sure that Granma made 100's and 100's of scuffs. Oh how I wish I couldn't have been handed that craft...just couldn't get it.

Catlover, forgive me. I just copied and pasted the pattern and didn't even look to see that I didn't tell you how to finish the slipper. Yes, the toe is a continuation of the rest. You just change from the first pattern to a ribbing. And you will end up with a flat piece. You do not bind off, though. You will leave about a foot-long tail of yarn which you will thread onto a yarn needle. Take each stitch off your knitting needle with the yarn needle. Once you have all the stitches on your "tail", pull them tight and make a stitch through the first one and last one. Then sew up the piece - you'll have to decide how far (just leave an opening big enough for your foot to go into the slipper, but not too big) and weave in your ends. Then go to the heel (make sure you have left about a 9" tail) and sew that up as well and hide that end. That's it. I like to make these with a small cuff as well. If you like I will print an adjusted pattern for that. Just let me know. As for pictures, I just haven't been able to master posting them. But I found several sites with almost the identical pattern. Msrose - or, we could just remove our drywall and exchange it. I WANT that green in the mix, darn it! (kidding) And, if it makes you feel any better... I WOULD have painted 4 times but we were pressed to have the house ready for the appraisal and my partner was not in his usual patient "we'll paint it until you find the right color" mode. In fact, that's why I have Valspar/allen + roth instead of Ben Moore in the first place. He made me go get paint on a weekend. Yes, that was a crisis point for me. ;) So, I'm living with it. We'll see for how long. It's really a nice color. If only I wanted a blue DR. Good luck with it. I find picking a paint color soooo difficult. And, I'm the worst combination because a) I'm bad at visualizing those chips on the wall even after I splotch and b) I care a lot about getting the color right. If I only had one of those two things, life would be simpler.

I'm late to the party, so I suppose the original poster will never see this, but... This last picture you provided helps a lot. That is totally a pocketbook slipper, just no strap. You make the triangle at the top (this is for flat-knit version), then increase by doubling all the stitches, then do a 2x2 rib (count up how many rows of dark rib there are and do that many, then switch to the 2nd color and continue) Keep going in a reverse fashion right on up the other side, and halve the stitches at the point where you previously doubled them. When finished knitting, you seam the heel and the toe area, leaving the 2nd side of the triangle open for the foot to slip in. I can't provide exact numbers because you need to measure to make up for th extra height needed to take its place. But follow the main pattern for pocketbook slippers to give yourself an idea of what to do. You could convert it to in the round fairly easily if you prefer.
