How much space between wall ovens and fridge?
Comments (6)gizmonike and rhome410 Thank you both very much for your valuable insights. A picture (or two) is worth more than 1000 words in this case. What a gorgeous setup. Thanks also for the advice about the handles. With kids, I can just imagine the dents! Adults are always perfect, right?? I also appreciate the list of tips, some of which I have also gleaned from this wonderful site, including the big single sink and induction. Now I also have the pegboard idea from your photos. I'm going right out to buy some blue tape, and I'll look up a thread here on Batch garbage disposals. If I get smart, I may even post some progress photos....See Morehow much space between cabinets and island?
Comments (9)Majorly disappointed! harumph.... Green designs - so what you are suggesting then it an L shape with an island? I'll have to cogitate on that.... I suppose the other ideas would to be to flip the U into the direction I have more room to work with. Just got up to measure everything - I did before, but obviously - not too good. The space is 16' long - for 8 feet of this it is 10'wide, and for the other 8' it is 11.5' wide (at this end there are 3 doors, and a window, and the kitchen is at the other end - the 10' wide) I want to open up the narrow part (that has the kitchen now) with removing a wall to make it 13' wide....and I should have mentioned that the cabinets will all be replaced. Looking at ikea, most cabinet bases are 24" - is that the standard? so - 13', 2 cabs each side - 9' between cabs- still not working.......See MoreHow much space between driveway and pathway?? Comments (26)We always park our vehicles in the garage unless we run home really quick to grab something before leaving again so I never thought much about delivery drivers whacking into our cars. I guess that's a good point to consider. Do you have the option of doing a curved sidewalk to the front door instead of just a straight runway? I was thinking something like having it start where you've drawn it, then at some point midway it curves to the left (creating a rounded flowerbed area between the sidewalk and driveway) and then have it curve back toward your front porch (and leave it connecting to the driveway near the garage doors like you've drawn it). I don't know if you have enough property in the left of the photo to make a curve look good or if it would look too squished, but it's an option to consider. I do think if you want a straight-shot sidewalk like that, you should leave a minimum of 3-4' in between the sidewalk and driveway for landscaping. Anything closer than that comes across as looking like an afterthought/diy job....See MoreHow much space needed between tub and toilet?
Comments (4)Wdcruise, thank you. sorry it took me so long. I am not getting all of my notifications when someone replies. The hall closet used to contain the original furnace so it needs a new floor and needs drywalled. I would rather keep it deep, but I could make it more shallow to give me room for a tub. Maybe move the back closet wall about 15-18"? 18" + 33" +3" (frame of current shower) = 54" + I have 36" to the outside rim of toilet. Should be enough for a tub. The only reason I want a tub/shower is because it will be less expensive and easier to install a tub. We live in a rural area and very few contractors here know what they are doing. We have not found anyone yet who knows how to install a tile floor in a shower correctly. (We asked how they would do it and what materials they would use.) So a tub would be less problematic for the contractor. The current shower has a center drain. I guess I will need to find a new shower with a center drain or have the drain moved for a new shower or tub. The house is on a slab so I have no idea what moving the plumbing would cost....See MoreFori
