Comments (51)Val: I know this was a very hard decision for you. Bravo to you for giving it a try despite all the drama involved. :) It took us a long time to find most of our rugs. Some we loved to death and had a hard time talking ourselves out of because of one reason or another. When we did find the right ones, it was like it was meant to be... right color, size, condition, etc..... We were able to bring them home, put them down and just stop thinking about whether they were right or wrong because they were perfect for us in every way. There was never any second guessing. I know there are rugs out there just waiting for you to find them. Don't exhaust yourselves trying to find one w/in a set time frame. Shop when you have the time and the energy. It may take months, or it may just take days... but please take your time and enjoy the journey. One more thing. Some dealers may seam snooty, and some may even BE snooty... but the good ones know their stuff and want you to be happy w/ your rug. Some will want to educate you and some won't want to bother. Never tell a dealer what your budget is as some will never show you any less than your upper range. If pressed, just say that you must keep it under $xxx, which should be less than you really are willing to spend. I look forward to seeing your future finds!...See MoreBacksplash with some color? Comments (31)Well, your slabs are as busy as mine. So, I would have to say you need something that is calm and not attention grabbing. I did find some some Jeffrey Court marble tiles that were really pretty. And they mixed in some pieces that had a curvy line of something sparkly in it. Imagine a 1/8" x 1/8" mosaic in an S pattern running through the tile....and just one line of it. It was really cool. I think it was a liner, but it could have been used anywhere in the field tile. But it was mixed in with the same tiles that didn't have that S in it. Kind of hard to describe. I know it's new. It is Chapter 16. Here is a link that does not do it justice. If you do have a dealer near you, see if they have this sample board in the showroom and go. Really, I liked it a lot. Comments (52)Thanks Texanjana I thought you'd appreciate how lovely your DR is going to look with lighter walls and dark cherry furniture. The rug...she has a puppy and went out and closed the doors in the DR, but forgot to lock the swinging door to the kitchen. To her horror, her puppy chewed a little piece of the Persian rug in the corner. She called her rug man, (the gentleman that sold her the rugs) he picked up the rug and took it into NYC to be weaved. They wanted 1250.00 to repair it, but he got it down to 1000.00. It was a perfect repair, you can't tell which corner was repaired. The culprit ...Atticus...See MoreThis rug and captains chairs for dining room?
Comments (24)I definitely prefer the second to the first rug. I really like the rug local eater posted too. I think you might like to have at least a third color to give the room something that has a little contrast. This photo from Houzz is not exact by any means but it does remind me of your dining room. They have a colorful rug. It might be a little too colorful for your room, but this is what I meant. I think the rug above would do something similar for your room but would look even better than the one is this photo. Also, I like your captain chairs much more than the plain white ones in the photo....See MoreRelated Professionals
