Rug and decor questions, specifically Arts and Crafts style
Comments (21)I love arts & crafts and mission styles too so I was drawn right into this post. Since you have a budget and say you won't (ever?) have more money to put into the decor I think you need to sit down and think about how to spend the money. Which things do you expect to last "forever" and which can you see replacing down the road? Put the bulk of your money into the forever stuff. I think as long as you keep things simple you can mix art & crafts/mission with other styles with great success. Puffy recliners are no good though so get rid of that thing! Just kidding. Sort of ;-) We'd all like to a houseful of Stickley and Van Erp but most of us can't afford that. There are "no name" antique mission furnishings out there at reasonable prices (because they are no name) that are solidly built. Someone like my father, who hated mission furniture, would use them as work benches or whatever. Now they need refinishing but they're still good pieces. Keep your eyes open for those diamonds in the rough....See MoreNavy sofa, slate blue rugs
Comments (5)How about looking for some "inspiration pieces" like artworks (prints, or posters) and THEN deciding on a wall color that would work ..... For example -- JUST an example -- how about checking art.com -- browse through some of their categories and type in "vintage travel" and check some of the great colors in those posters. Just an example! How about "vintage food" or "vintage drink" categories -- again -- GREAT colors! There are LOTS of possibilities there! Also check shops like T.J. Maxx; Target; Pier One or World Market for ideas and artworks too....See MoreDivani Chateau dax leather sofa question on quality etc. & rug or no?
Comments (1)i bought this from someone for$600 recently and am trying to figure out exactly how good a purchase i made...i researched what to look for in a leather sofa before i bought but had no one to ask the usual questions to such as what king of leather is this (or is it?) and how dense in the foam and what kind of contruction..it is a pebbled texture and very comfortable to sit on..does the pebbled finish mean anything to type of leather or quality? it is dated 2004. See picture of the label. And it weighs a ton..Also do you think i should add a rug in front of it or not?i found a possible one thats pier 1 that ill add picture of. What about a coffee table?...See MoreBlue velvet couch. Rug help?
Comments (7)What a beautiful idea for the table! Yes, I would get a rug big enough to fit under a bit of your couch and at least the front legs of the chair you plan to put by the window. Whether you go bold or muted for the rug I think depends a lot on if you are planning to add a lot of bold/colorful art to the walls and any accessories. If the walls are going to be minimally decorated, go bolder in the rug and vice versa. Just my unprofessional opinion....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
