We saw Billions and Shades of Blue. Billions is complicated but I think it will be good.

Shades of Blue (J. Lopez and Ray Liotta) is going to be a winner.

I'm not sure about Shades of Blue yet. Lopez and Liotta are terrific. There's a lot of layering and texture to the characters and histories. The plot, however, is trite beyond belief, and it's like they're acting the heck out of it to make up for the weak scripts.

Loved both episodes of Shades of Blue. The critics aren't praising it though. I will continue to watch!

Mystery! is my favorite, but isn't on as regularly as it used to be-alas. I also like NCIS, the original Law and Order (even with all the cast changes-really like the new Prosecutor), and Law and Order Criminal Intent. I like The Closer, but can never remember when it's on and there are a lot of 10 pm shows I would probably like, but I go to bed early (school starts early, don'tchaknow). House Hunters and HH International are fun, too. We actually know some people who were on House Hunters. Such a disappointment-they had already bought their house and the other two houses were just filmed for the show. Not sure if they are all like that, but this one was not entirely honest. Too bad.

I have never heard of such a thing either. Seems impossible. It could be a problem with the model since two in a row did it. Here's what I'm thinking happened: CH4 (from the cable) is too strong for the receiver section, overdrives it, the chroma gets stripped out leaving only the perfectly clear B&W. OR CH4 (from the cable) is too weak, the chroma section cannot get a lock, and only a fuzzy B&W picture shows. Here's a simple test. Assuming your original test with your VCR was with the VCR set to CH3, change your VCR to output on CH4 and then view TV again to see if all channels are normal or B&W. I'm betting the problem will be gone and all channels viewed through the VCR to the TV on CH4 will be fine. That would suggest the cable signal is the problem and you need to address that.

I also read that "Journeyman, The 4400 and Dead Zone have been officially cancelled. And also that even if the strike ended very soon that they wouldn't have time to write, approve and film many TV episodes if any at all. So looks like there won't be any new episodes of the Fall shows. Clare

I always watch Poldark but will have to check out The Collection next time. Speaking of Poldark....... I am curious to find out the father of Elizabeth's baby but It probably won't be in this series. Guess I will have to read the books to find out sooner.

I've only watched the first episode of Shades of Blue (taped the second), and I like it so far. Looking forward to Billions. Stan and I watched Second Chance, and we liked it.

Not familiar with Billions will look into it. Like Shades of blue and Second chance.

Oh didn't realize Billions was on Showtime. I got rid of all the pay movie channels.

The initial order was 13 episodes, which is a "half season", and is slated to play through March, though full is more like 22 than 26, nowadays. If it's renewed, it may still be a half season. They tend to do limited orders for big time stars, even on network.

I watched the first episode of Shades of Blue because I love Ray Liotta. I thought it was ok. But the first episode of The Colony was on the same time Thursday night and that's the show I'll be watching. I could have dvr'd Blue last night, but, I think I watch too much tv anyway and I really wasn't impressed.

I wanted to watch Shades of Blue to see Liotta and Lopez, but in my usual fashion I didn't think of it at the right time. Now I see I've missed two episodes, so that's that--until maybe five or so years down the road, when I'll be able to binge-watch the whole series. LOL

Never heard of Billions, but if it's on cable that explains it.

We really like Shades of Blue. I think when I was a kid, a full season of shows was 39. And lots of series had Christmas episodes and not a gazillion reruns.
