Hi Janie, I spoke with Graber today and it is basically like I thought I would find. They do not have a complete stand alone program that will integrate with a Google Home or Alexa. The way that it works is you need to use a home automation controller like one from SmartThings. The motorized shades from Graber that have the Virtual Cord Control are what you need because they have the Z-Wave technology that can communicate with the SmartThings controller or one of several other controllers. I asked if they had a set up guide to walk someone through the process of setting this up. They said they do but that it is generic because the technology is always advancing. If this is something you are still interested in, I can send you a copy of the file they are sending to me. I don't know how complete it is going to be yet. If you just want motorized shades, they are available from Graber or Hunter Douglas but if you want to use your voice to control them it is getting just a little bit more complicated. But it does sound cool!! One thing to keep in mind with doing these things is that they operate on wi-fi and how well they operate depends on how well the signal travels through your home. Mike

Tina, I just went through a similar dilemma. If cost and my dog wasn't a factor, I would of went with vertical panels or a set of 3 roman cordless shades. Since I didn't want to spend 600+ on window treatments, I opted to hang a curtain rod with a support at each end and 1 directly in the center. I then purchase two 100x84 panels from Kohls, as they had a big sale. I paid 90 shipped for both curtains. I chose light filtering instead of blackout for my shades but both options exist in that size. Good luck.

I think one of the problems is that many new houses are designed as if privacy and light control are of absolutely no concern whatsoever, like every house is sited privately on large acreage with perfect position to the sun and with no problems of nighttime light pollution at all. You may well have the budget to properly dress all these windows, I don't want to assume anything but that could be in the $10Ks--don't think I am exaggerating, I know someone who spent $100,000 on window treatments-- but the problem is most people do Not budget for this and that's why so many houses end up with little better than a sheet over the window. There are multi-million dollar houses around me (in the middle of a city, no privacy and light pollution enough that you can read with the lights out at night in some places), with gigantic plate glass windows covered 24 hours a day with cheap accordion shades or limp looking pieces of cloth from Target. A million-dollar house deserves better, and sometimes that means planning in the architectural drafting stage, and the budget stage. I am not singling you out OP, it's just a general comment about a common thing I see in these forums. "I just built a very expensive house. My budget for window shades is Walmart."
