As many of you know, I have quite a collection of animal, bug and bird pins.

Santa brought me these 2 new ones this year.

Jim's plane looks like this one that we've flown on a few times on the way to Maine. On one flight I volunteered to sit in the co-pilot seat, because I thought there would be more leg room. There was, but there were pedals down there that if you hit them with your foot, the plane would do ... something. Probably something not-good. My portable herb garden. I put it next to the white wall to get good reflection. To bad it is on the west side of the house. I have to water almost daily. Come on cold weather. Another day of 80 degrees or warmer today. Ho-hum!

Have you read the book "Read my Pins" by Madeleine Albright? It's a beautiful book.

Moni, hope your bike and all your gear travel well to your destination and it is a happy problem free adventure.

Casey, thank you. I do love both of them as I do all my pins. The Fox is by Liztech. The bee's body is made with baltic amber. Had heard the term 'baltic amber' before but a web search sure was enlightening. Do a web search for both. Liztech does some unusual jewelery. My pin drawer is in need of reorganizing. Hopefully I will get it done and post a picture soon.

Do you wear them often, lgmd? I especially like the fox. I have a few pins but rarely wear. I should try to wear them more. Thanks for sharing. I gifted the Madeline Albright book to a friend. It's very interesting.

Speaking of pins or brooches, here is my collection of Dachshund ones. Once in awhile I will wear one but mainly just collect them. I am always checking thrift shops.

I love all the pictures today. All the pins are beautiful. What a fun thing to collect. Socks, your yard is gorgeous, even in the rain, and Oski looks like he is weathering El Nino pretty well. Moni, safe travels.

lgmd, I bought Baltic amber earrings for my daughter and granddaughter for Christmas this year. A friend of mine owns an amber jewelry business (www.amberjewelry.com) and travels to Poland--the source.

socks, yes I do wear my pins. Of course I have favorites that I wear often and then some that haven't been worn for years.

I have not read Madeline Albrights book. I remember putting it on my Christmas list at the time it was published, didn't get it then and had completely forgotten about it. Thanks Casey and socks for reminding me. I will be on a hunt for it.

Alisande, great site your amber jewelry friends have. I found several things to think about for future gift giving. Lots of info on the site, thanks for posting it.
